Getting sooo close

We leave on February 2nd and my mind is racing of course..what to bring...what not to bring..what will the weather be like...ughh ughh ughh..ok here is what i need help on..hubby thinks we should check at least one piece of luggage that isnt filled so that we have room for all the stuff we buy..that makes sense doesnt it?? i just have a fear of checking luggage and it being lost...does that happen very often??? next.....packing for this time of year......should i bring lots of warm weather clothes or not..i dont want to overpack......but i dont want to underpack either.......Help Me..Please!!!!!

Some people put a folding duffle or suitcase inside of their suitcase with their clothes and then check it on the way home.

We will be there Jan. 31, but are driving (thank goodness, as I am NOT good at this packing thing.)

cyndibelle - I have a large collapsible nylon suitcase that I pack in the bottom of my suitcase - on the way home we pack it with our dirty clothes (since it doesn't afford any real protection) and place the things we buy in our sturdier suitcases - works like a charm - just make sure you're not going over your check on limit!
