Getting soaked...

If you get really wet, say on Splash Mountian or Kali, do you plan ahead and bring a change of clothes or just wait to dry off...last time, dd (then 3) and I got soaked on everything that could get us wet (Somehow dh and ds stayed dry???). I had a stroller then and kept a backpack with dry clothes. Won't have a stroller this time and really don't want to carry a backpack or take the time to get a locker. We will be there in mid-November - could we be very uncomfortable waiting to dry off. Should we just bring a backpack and lug it and after riding a few rides at rope drop, get the locker? I'm kind of thinking to plan to wear faster drying clothes (avoiding denim etc.) on potentially wet days...any thoughts?

Generally, if its during the nice and warm season (70 +) I don't bring a change of clothes. It feels so good to walk around in the wet clothes while the water evaporates. Easy way to keep cool. But I might bring a change of socks. But then again, the dry socks would probably get wet anyways. If you are staying onsite I wouldn't worry about it too much because the hotel is just a hop skip and a jump away.

You don't get very wet on Splash Mountain. Just like your face does. But Kali you will get wet. And I don't think you get went on any other rides besides a few sprinkles.

We usually travel in June....which is the rainy season....so, we have those 50 cent emergency ponchos in case of rain. Last year we actually wore them for Kali and Splash Mountain.

They are about the size of a man's wallet (folded in a plastic package) and at 50 cents per poncho....you can just about throw them away when you exit the ride.

I usually bring about 10 ponchos for the 3 of us....we use them for one day and then throw them away. Some days....we don't need them.....some days we use them all day.

I purchased the ponchos at Dollar Tree....2 for $1. They sell the Coleman brand at Wal-Mart....but, I think they are 88 cents per poncho.

Speed :teleport:

Splash Mountain just feels good - you don't get soaked.

Last trip we just dressed to get wet on Kali. DH and DS wore their bathing suits all day (they just look like shorts). I wore a tank top and nylon shorts. My underwear was pretty wet but I honestly don't remember being too uncomfortable for too long - I just didn't want to drag clothes with me.

Oh - and we wore sandals so we didn't worry about wet socks - which would be icky!

I tend to pack a change of clothes for the kids. On park days my husband and I don't wear denim shorts or sneakers. We try for light breezy clothes and comfortable sandals so you don't get that "squishy" feeling!!!! Honestly if it's really hot, it feels really good to get wet!!!

:goodvibes You can get soaked on splash mountain if you set up front

I hear you! I think I'll stick with the plan to dress accordingly - may even have dh convinced to buy some crocs. I want to take as little as possible to the parks...and if we are only doing part of the day at the park, maybe save the wetter rides to near the end, if possible.

We never bring extra clothes but then again we never go on Kali either- very rarely anyway.

But there are times you can get soaked on Splash Mountain- 99 percent of the time we don't- but I can definitely remember a time we got totally soaked for some reason. My mom was wearing jean shorts so she was wet almost the entire rest of the day. I wore chino shorts (from J Crew- you know, essentially khaki shorts) and they dried VERY quickly. I swear by them, and I can guarantee you that mom won't be wearing jean shorts when we go in Sept! :rotfl:

I got pretty wet on SM after the drop!! There is a part of the ride that is outside, after the drop, that has water running down the side.I was sitting on the right hand side of the seat and the water was just a pouring down the side and splashing into our log. We were holding still waiting for the load/unload process and we were at a complete stop right next to this water running down the side of the mountain. Has anyone else gotten stuck there?
You could get squeeze together with your passenger on the left side and get sort of out of it. But my shorts were pretty wet when we unloaded. Felt good in June :thumbsup2

I was lucky enough to go to Disney in Jan. and then again in Feb. this year. According to a CM at SM they added a new effect to the ride. When the ride first starts and you drift around the briar patch and beside the big drop, you have more of a chance of getting soaked. When the log drops, they now have a new water cannon that squirts the logs that are passing by. It's all timing of whether your log gets hit or not. But it's a big spray! I have ridden SM many many times and I have never gotten as wet as I did in Feb. I was back again in March and get soaked again!! I had to ring out my clothes. I believe that they can turn the effect off if the weather is too cool. Enjoy your trip.
