Getting rid of LandLine

I considered this but, both DH & I need to use our fax machine for work (not alot, but usually once a week). We also have had the same phone number for 15 years, I know, dumb reason, but.... I do think I will be dropping the caller id & call waiting. I'm not on the house phone much & most people know my cell number anyways.

Also as for the alarm system its a non issue, the line outside your house can be unplugged without any tampering in about 5 seconds so having the alarm call out is only good for the most stupid criminals. There is generally a phone box right near the power meter and its just a single phone jack in there to unplug you from the lines. There is no lock on it most times except on the phone company side, on the house side its wide open

Our landline service is through Verizon. They have a basic no frills plan for 9.95 per month. We dropped to that and it dropped our bill quite a bit:thumbsup2 I like having the landline for 911 capability. I know cells can call 911, but not everyone in our family has a cell yet, and I am not ready for dd12 to have her own phone....too much responsibility for her to keep up with!

We've been without a landline for 4 years, We just installed magic jack 3 days ago and really like it. It sounds very clear and was so easy to install. The commercial is telling the truth when it says you just plug and go.
