Only three weeks to go and I haven't even begun. I need help. I am traveling for the first time ever and don't have a clue what to pack. I am going on my own to WDW for 9 days. I am from Washington state and am not sure what it will be like in Florida during the last week of August. We have actually been having 90 degree weather here which is amazing so am thinking that it will be about the same over there. I am worried that I will pack everything and the kitchen sink because I don't know what to expect. Any experts out there that can help me narrow down my options and make sure I bring all the neccessities.

A few necessities for us are---Aspirin, autograph book and pen, fannypack, money, credit card, bathing suit, camera, lots of film, hat, kleenex, wipes, chapstix, sunscreen, sunglasses, rain ponchos, and water bottle, oh yeah, and more money!!

It will be hot - 90's is very likely but also some rain. Pack shorts and t-shirts/tank tops. Also ponchos are a good idea - I refuse to wear them and always have, even when I am little, but I love to walk in the rain and get soaked. If you are not like me bring a poncho - you can buy them in the parks but everyone will be wearing those yellow ones so if want to stand out go to walmart or the dollar store and some before you go. You may want to bring a light weight sweater or something like that if you tend to get cold in AC since some attractions and all indoor restaurants are air conditioned - I love that cool blast after being in the heat but some people are more sensitive to the cold than others.

Have a great time!!!!

:smooth: We tend to pack very light on clothing, etc. Most of the resorts/villas have washers/dryers somewhere on the property. Bring an extra pair of comfy shoes. Don't worry. If you forget something you can most likely purchase it somewhere close-by. Have a good time.

Definately bring extra film! It's twice as expensive in the parks. I would also suggest moleskins for your feet. I also like to bring a tube of hydrocortison cream for rashes & chafing. We go light on clothing too, and usually do a couple of loads of laundry mid-trip. It's cheap & convenient to pack a few laundry tablets, some Shout wipes, and some dryer sheets in a ziploc bag. Also, if you have long hair, make sure to bring accessories to pull it up or back in the heat. Some other things: extra socks (these you may want to change at least twice a day), feminine products, extra ziploc bags, at least one bathing suit.

What not to bring: Very dressy clothes (unless you're planning to eat at Victoria & Alberts), high healed shoes, unnecessary things in your purse or wallet, too much makeup (it will melt off your face anyway!).

Have a wonderful trip!

I've been in WDW in July and August before and swore I would never go back at that time of year. Feb is my fav month. As it turned out I'm heading back to the BWV the last week in August, duh, never learn.
Part of my survival kit includes a misty mate spray bottle to be carried seperately form my fanny pack. They leak and sweat all over. Nice cool breeze though. Plenty of water and my fav ugly broken in Tevas. Sporty bra type tanky things that I'll wear under a rayon open shirt. If it's really hot I'll go hide somewhere and take my shirt off. I found these shirts to be the best bet for cool air conditioning and the lose fit helps keep you cool. I carry a small Mickey umbrella to use as a parasol and for rain. i never used those ponchos. They're stll sealed up after about 10 years of carrying them back and forth to WDW. Mini Eagle Creek fannypack with a small digital camera . Most importantly a positive attitude.

It will be hot in August, with an afternoon shower possible. I would pack shorts and T-shirts. I would also pack sun screen, sun glasses, and some type of hat.

You may also think about bringing a back pack or fanny pack for carrying items around in the parks.

Hope that helps.

Don't think that it will cool off at night. The evening temp isn't going to get below 80 probably. It's not like where you live where it actually cools down at night. Don't worry about packing warm clothes--one pair of pants and one light jacket maybe (as someone else said only for the A/C). Keep it simple and light. Comfy shoes are a must. The other posts cover other necessities.
Have a great time.

We have been to WDW in late August three times (going back this August) and also in late September once. Pack light clothes - only - no jackets, sweatshirts or anything with long sleeves.

Waist or Fanny Pack is a must with room for Camera, Sunglasses, money, aspirin, tums, etc.

I also bring some lotion for sunburn (I like Avon Perfumed Skin Softener). Two pairs of shoes are best so you can switch. I like to bring a pair of flip-flops for the pool.

I got a scarf-like tie that you wet and wear around your neck. You can get them at camping supply stores and other places. You wet it in the morning and it puffs up and stays cool. As it dries out you wet it again to renew it. Don't know the exact name but can be a lifesaver. I get too hot easy and this made all the difference.
