Getting ready to go checklist- what else can I do?

Wow, Jade, that is one huge list! There are some really good ideas in there but i'm not sure how anyone would ever pack all that stuff! Do people really pack a shower curtain rod? :confused3

So we've got 2 weeks til we leave and I'm antsy to pack and start getting ready. It's too early to pack so I was wondering what else I could do to keep busy and prepare for out Halloween trip.

Here's what we've done.

Bought tons of pins over the summer at TDS semi annual sale.
Packed our Disney bag- pins, lanyards, autograph books, penny presses, mickey ears, etc
Got matching shirts for the family
Have PS's made, and a general schedule of activities for each day
Dog kennel is reserved
Costumes almost done
TOT Party tickets purchased
Called to confirm hotel reservations
Bought a bigger SD memory card on ebay

Need to do this week:
Change oil in car
Get snacks from Costco
Buy my new shoes from Famous Footwear
Buy kids new tennis shoes (in the next 2 days so they can wear them for 2 weeks and get them worn in)

Next week:
Pack
Clean out the car
Arrange to have newspaper delivery held, mail held
Clean house so we come home refreshed and not have to do housework.

Anything else you guys can think of?? Fun stuff even?

I'm just too excited!!! I wanna be doing stuff to get ready!!:cool1:

Catch up on all of your Disney movie viewing. Even the obscure stuff like Wind in the Willows - so Mr. Toad makes sense. And Roger Rabbit so Toon Town makes sense. Anything that you haven't seen in a while to build the excitement. It seems we step up our Disney movie viewing before we go to DLR. Sort of builds the excitement and then we connect movie scenes to rides and it makes it really fun.

Have you made some matching Disney character shirts for your trip? That could be a really fun project that would make you feel like you are doing something. Check out the DISsigns section of the board. They have super ideas and REALLY creative people who let you use their designs!

Or you could always just make lists of your lists if you get really bored!! :thumbsup2

no i dont pack it all its a lii got last year it dose help me tho mkae sure i dont forget things id need

AWESOME list, Jade, thanks for sharing! I have to print it out.

I love all the ideas here.

About walkie-talkies... we used to use those for the state fair... realized that cell phones are much better. You invariably end up sharing a channel with someone obnoxious... then you switch channels and there's someone obnoxious on that one, too. Also, the background noise at DL is so bad that it's really hard to hear walkies. It's hard with cell phones, too, but at least you're not sharing the channel.

If not everyone in your party has a cell phone that needs one, you can buy a track phone with prepaid minutes for this occasion. That's what I did for DD13 for this trip. (no way am I giving DD13 her own full-use cell phone yet! :lmao: She'd never stop texting!)

One more thing... Duct Tape!!

It sounds so dumb, but really it can help a lot. You can put names on luggage if tags break, you can fix luggage. You can even babyproof a room... we have done it. It covers outlets, keeps doors closed, etc. There are tons of uses, but we always travel with some... especially with a toddler!

Cool Idea! Thank goodness I don't have to worry about baby proofing a hotel room anymore. :) My baby is 4 (YIKES!!) I think I will stick some in the car just in case. :thumbsup2

Glow sticks. They sell them everywhere- Dollar stores etc... Saves us tons of money when the kids see all of those light up things.
Also, don't forget the cheap ponchos from Dollar store

I still have glow sticks leftover from our last trip. I really stocked up at the Dollar Tree.

Motion sickness medicine?? If you are prone to that or not sure if you will get motion sickness, get some at Walmart. They sell it super cheap. (I will end up getting a prescription from my doctor before we go next year - I had no idea I would be so dizzy and woozy the whole trip....)

We ran out of beef jerky early into our trip. My husband and son love it! We will be buying more than 4 bags for our next trip.

Oh - a surge protector for extra outlets for charging cell phone & batteries. That was recommended to us for our last trip, and it was wonderful!

duck tape lol yesterdya we used some at sons bday party and grandma was syaing lall the things her parents would use it for lol
also we have lightsticks from walmart the smae bag from last year 5dollers and they lasted the trip and after for a few months.

(grandma got him them for the trip)

The protein from the jerky is a great thing in the morning. And right before bed too.

I told DH that I was buying 8 bags of it for our next trip. LOL

OMG jade...are you moving there??? sheesh I would never bring all that stuff...thats just crazy:rotfl: one thing they should have put but didnt is

MAKE COPIES OF ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS

including but not limited to:

Drivers Licence
medical cards
park hopper tickets (including MTOTP)
hotel confirmation
credit cards/debit card (front and back)

also take with you a list of all of your PS's and the date and times...I always call Disney Dining up the day before I leave and make sure we are on the same page and nobody messed something up...that way I dont have to deal with it when Im there...they did that to me once a few years ago and I wont let it happen again:thumbsup2

oh and I just pack a tall garbage bag to put my dirty clothes in...doesnt take up any room and it beats using one of their bags

thats on the list and the list was another persons i dont take it all lol but yes copies is there some where lol

ID card (laminated) for your child's pocket (put child’s name, your name, your cell #)
If park tickets are pre-purchased a photo copy of the back of them in case they are lost
(tho the id card we have my sons lanyard made and all the info on it.)
Park tickets we are going to take pics of them and print them with the number re writting on the back of that paper

I'm curious as to where the long list originated. I'm wondering whether or not someone actually brought all that stuff. Or, if they didn't and realized they needed it while at DL.

An extension cord? Lol. That's too much. Nonetheless, the list is helpful in giving ideas. Some of the obscure items are things that people would realize they need once they get there. After hearing all the horror stories about contacts on this board, I'm going to be sure to bring an extra set.

We stayed at the Tropicana this past summer and we sure could of used an extension cord and/or an outlet strips for our cell phone chargers, video camera charger and digital camera charger. :thumbsup2
