So we've got 2 weeks til we leave and I'm antsy to pack and start getting ready. It's too early to pack so I was wondering what else I could do to keep busy and prepare for out Halloween trip.

Here's what we've done.

Bought tons of pins over the summer at TDS semi annual sale.
Packed our Disney bag- pins, lanyards, autograph books, penny presses, mickey ears, etc
Got matching shirts for the family
Have PS's made, and a general schedule of activities for each day
Dog kennel is reserved
Costumes almost done
TOT Party tickets purchased
Called to confirm hotel reservations
Bought a bigger SD memory card on ebay

Need to do this week:
Change oil in car
Get snacks from Costco
Buy my new shoes from Famous Footwear
Buy kids new tennis shoes (in the next 2 days so they can wear them for 2 weeks and get them worn in)

Next week:
Pack
Clean out the car
Arrange to have newspaper delivery held, mail held
Clean house so we come home refreshed and not have to do housework.

Anything else you guys can think of?? Fun stuff even?

I'm just too excited!!! I wanna be doing stuff to get ready!!:cool1:

watch videos on You Tube of rides/parades/fireworks...

that's what we do to curb the cravings

how about making some LGHM tags for your bags? or even disney-themed luggage tags?

i like the PP's idea of watching stuff on youtube. i did just that a week ago!

we are going on our 1st family trip to DL in 10 days, so i've been preparing too. i know what you mean about packing...i wanna start, but it's way to early to start packing! LOL! since this is our 1st family trip, i'm always on DL's website looking at the resort map so i have a better feel of where things are...and then looking at descriptions for each of the attractions (e.g., knowing which rides DD2 won't be able to go...but i don't think you need to be concerned since your kids are older).

Keep a running list of things to pack. I'm just starting that myself. I'm reminding myself to bring the camera charger, the cell phone charger, a night light, and the white noise machine... etc. etc.! :thumbsup2

We leave 2 weeks from today, too! See you there! :woohoo:

Glow sticks. They sell them everywhere- Dollar stores etc... Saves us tons of money when the kids see all of those light up things.
Also, don't forget the cheap ponchos from Dollar store

jade/PaMom001, wow! thanks for the packing list... i'm gonna have to print it out! i didn't even think about the night light until i read it in gail's post, and you have it, too, in your list. very cool!

yw i saved the pm and decied why not post it. so hope every one likes it

I noticed ziplock bags on that list. I just wanted to second that. We brought some this past trip and they were invaluable to protect electronics from wet rides and for saving leftovers for later. :thumbsup2

We also always keep ziplocs. And we always take an extrention cord even if we are not driving because there are never enough outlets and they are never where you need them

I have watched the you tube videos and we have Disneyland Behind the Scenes on tivo from last year. We watch that one as well as the planning dvd all the time!

I might do the lime green mickey head tags for my bag.

By the way, for all of you crazy planners out there, I bought a blue Disney planner last year from the Disney warehouse outlet for $9.99. I love this thing!! It zips closed and has sections for hotel, park, dining etc. It also has a plastic zipper case, a credit card slots page, a fuzzy felt page for pins and each section has its own folder slot to keep index cards of your plans. It comes with one pin also! Super deal!

I've got all of our confirmation numbers, PS confirm numbers, plans, AP passes, discount coupons etc in my planner. I'm all set and organized. I wrote packing lists, and stuff to do lists in their as well.

Oooo, I almost forgot its got a couple of pages for the penny presses.

Thanks for the ideas. I guess I'm totally ready except for the stuff I've got to do on my list.

Ok so I am new here....but what are LGMHs???

LGMH = Lime Green Mickey Heads...paint chip samples you can get a home depot...shaped as a mickey head...official name is "alien green". folks laminate them, etc, and make then into keychains/luggage tags. it's a way for DIS'ers to recoginize other DIS'ers. :thumbsup2

A quick question for you Jade...I bought walkie talkies for our trip a couple of months ago, and the directions for them stated that they could not be used in the USA unless we had a license. Can they be used in DL?? If anyone could answer this question it would be appreciated. TIA

Trish:flower3:

Jade, when you get all that stuff packed will you still have any room for clothes? :lmao: No, seriously, great checklist!

We stay for 2 weeks so I have to pack the bare minimum and do laundry while we are there. Even doing that, last year I had to pay an extra $25 because my bag was a few pounds over the limit! They asked if I wanted to try to rearrange but I wasn't about to open it right there and try to get it all stuffed back in again! DH said it was well worth just paying the extra anyway instead of staying in line any longer.

Anyway, to the OP....
looks like you are getting everything in order.

Here are a few extra ideas that might apply to some:
If you happen to have a Disney Visa don't forget to transfer the points.
Order groceries to have delivered to your room.
Make parking arrangements if you need to leave your car at the airport.
Make arrangements for transportation from airport.
Don't forget to pack the post it notes if you have a little one that hates self flushing toilets.
