Ok girls I need some help with those of you who have gotten married already. I'm concerned about where we will get ready on the wedding day. Our ceremony is at the Yacht Club Gazebo and I have already booked a room for the 2 nights before the wedding there. On our wedding day we will check out of Yacht and check in to Grand Flo. So my question is, where will I get ready?? I'm going to try to get a late checkout in my Yacht Club room but hair/makeup will go until 4pm since my wedding is at 5pm and I dont think I can keep the room that long! Can you request to have a room to get ready in?? Or do you think that I can check out that late?? Plus I dont know where DF will get ready either but we'll worry about that later ;)

My other question is how will I check in to the Grand on my wedding day. I certainly dont want to have to go over there in the morning since I need to relax and get ready. Can someone else check us in?? Our wedding wont be over until 11pm or later so I'm not sure how they feel about checking in so late. I guess I could just call and say we're checking in late. I'm sure they'd understand...

Anyways I'm going nuts over the wedding day logistics so can anyone put my mind at ease??? Please :)

That's a tough one! I personally would just stay in the YC one more night so as not to worry about that stress. If you don't get to the GF until 11 pm, it isn't like you're going to have much time to enjoy the resort that night anyway. That's one of the reasons we stayed at the YC the night before and the night of the wedding; so I wouldn't have to worry about transportation issues getting to the gazebo.

I know that spending your wedding night at GF would be super romantic, but if the logistics stress you out, I'm not sure it would balance out...

Good luck with your decision!

I was told that we could get a room to get ready in at the YC but we had to pay for it. Because of that and that i didnt want the hassle of moving hotels that night we stayed in the YC.

If your really set in doing everything the way you stated, this is just a thought. Men take about no time at all to get ready, what will your DF be doing all day?? Maybe he could do the checking in to the GF??

Marcy, I'm in the same boat as you.

I am getting ready in my family's room @ the BCV's the day of the wedding.
I was planning to send my luggage down to bell services in the morning (or maybe having my bro-in-law do this for me) and have them send our luggage to POFQ, this way they'll already be there when we check in after the wedding.

Right after the wedding my DF and I plan to take a cab from the BC to POFQ.
We're not really crazy about checking in at 9pm in the evening, but nothings been written about the final decision.

I guess if you call GF concierge or check-in the morning of your wedding to let them know that you will be checking in right after your reception, perhaps they'll be kind enough to hold a room for you???:confused3

Maybe you can call the GF directly and ask in advance & see what options they can offer you, here's their number:407-934-7000

Keep us posted! (I'll call POFQ on my end to see what they say)

hhmmm, that's a good idea too. although, you can't check in until 3 or 4pm, correct? I guess it would depend what time your ceremony begins.

I wouldn't think it would be a problem to check in in the morning. I thought that was a fairly common thing - it's just they mightn't have a room ready for you yet. And I'm sure either hotel would hold your luggage. But I don't know where you could actually get ready. And I wouldn't think that most hotels would have a problem with a late check in - as long as you give them notice and they have your credit card or deposit (they're guaranteed the money regardless of whether you come or not). But that would mean you wouldn't see your room until after 11, so if you had a problem with it you'd probably have more hassle and fewer options. Plus you don't want to deal with that the evening after your wedding. I would tend to think that it would be better not to plan to switch hotels the day of your wedding. Either by staying at YC an extra night, checking into GF the day before, or maybe even having both rooms for the wedding night.

Good luck!

I used to be a CM in reservations for Disney. They hold all reservations until 9-10am the next morning. You can check in any time at all. I have checked in at 2-3am before (new years eve) and there was no problem at all with the room. If you're very concerned about it just have someone give them a call that day to give the desk manager a heads up you will be running late. But even without that phone call your room at GF will be fine. :)

PS~~ Don't forget...delegate delegate delegate!! You DONT have to do everything yourself. Its your day to relax! Have brothers/sisters/moms/dads/cousins...even DF do some stuff for you. Even your bridesmaids can be helpful with the little details like getting luggage to GF. Best of luck...and BREATH :)

Thanks girls!!!!! You all make me feel MUCH BETTER! And I have no idea why I didnt think of DF going to check in. Duh. He's not going to be doing anything anyway :) So he can check in and they can hold our luggage.

And booking the YC room for another night is a great idea. I think I'll do that. My DF's family can stay there the night of the wedding and we'll go do our own thing. They live in Orlando but they wont want to drive all the way home after the wedding.

Thanks again girls! I appreciate it!!

Thank you for the number. I'll definitely be calling them either that day or earlier. Actually I just had a meeting with a GF manager a few weeks ago for work so maybe I'll just email her and ask :)

Thank you for your help!
