How do you get your home ready for family & friends who will be visiting during the holiday season? Paint the living room, put down new carpets you were eventually going to get anyway, send the drapes out for dry cleaning (does anyone do that anymore?), clean every nook & cranny in the house whether company will see it or not, make all repairs & replacements?

Or do you clean pretty much as you normally do?

When will you start decorating?

I clean pretty much as I normally do. We actually have removed a lot of wallpaper and repainted over the summer but we still have more to do. The lady who owned our house before us LOVED her some wallpaper. :lmao: I wouldn't do more of this just for company, though.

I can't think of anything that needs to be repaired--we usually take care of that kind of stuff as it comes along.

I decorate on the Friday after Thanksgiving. There's no way I'm going near any store that day. :scared1:

For me, I'll clean. We repainted everything last year. My parents and grandmother are coming December 12-15 for my masters graduation. I want to have everything decorated by then.... I may do some touch up painting in the kitchen -- our dog is rough on the paint.

We decorate living room, dining room. Last few years I've been decorating our bedroom (it's a huge area, suite like, on the whole 2nd floor of a 1930's house). I bought a small prelit tree for our room to hold the Precious Moments figurines my mother sends every year....dating back to the 70's....

Since we repainted the trim of our house, we haven't decorated the outside (the painters removed the nails that were in the trim from the previous owners). I'll see if I can do something to light up the house....

I may do a deeper cleaning or rid some clutter, but nothing major. I may start decorating with a few villages and such soon, but we dont' do our tree until the Sunday after T'Giving :)
