I know there are several of us here who are getting ready- planning, shopping, even some decorating already! I thought maybe we could come here to share thoughts and ideas away from the "Scrooges" who want to wait until after Thanksgiving! ;)

I started shopping already- this is HUGE for me as I am usually a big procrastinator. I have a couple of gifts for my immediate family already- I need to start thinking about the nieces and nephews!:santa:

Although I teach, I have today off because our school is used as a polling place. I plan to take advantage of this extra day off by getting a head start on my shopping for the nieces and nephews. We have Christmas with the extended family from Michigan the second week in December, so I am always running late when it comes to their gifts. Hopefully I will have some luck today. :)

I actually have alot of my shopping done already too. Still waiting for my favorite holiday Black Friday to get the big items.
This week we have my DDs 5th birthday party which is a costume theme so our Halloween decorations are still up, but Sunday they will be coming down and the Christmas ones will be going up.
I have already started my tradition of Christmas music playing (that starts 11/1 every year).
Love the holidays!!

Trying to get in the mood, Starting to listening to Christmas music and starting to prep myself for shopping

I've started my shopping. I've got new jammies for all 5 of my kids, and a couple of presents, as well. Today, I have to kind of shift gears and do birthday shopping for my DS, as his birthday is on Monday. I also need to pick up gifts for a niece and nephew so we can get them wrapped and delivered by Thanksgiving.

I love Christmas, and can't wait until our radio station plays continuous Christmas music. They used to start on Nov. 1, but got too many complaints, so now they wait until Nov. 14. Don't know why that date is ok, but whatever.

I started shopping last week.... took all the Halloween decorations down yesterday morning and put up the Thanksgiving decor and will gradually add in touches of Christmas here and there :santa:

I also started listening to my Christmas CD's yesterday. From what I recall, there was a radio station last year in the Boston area that started playing Christmas music @ the beginning of November. I checked yesterday and they've not done it yet :( Apparently 2 years ago, they did it Nov. 1st and people complained that it was too soon.... then last year it was Nov. 15th, and other people complained that they waited too long :rotfl:

I'm also compiling a list of tricks/treats for our elf Charlie to do this year since he's been visiting for 2 years and I'm fresh out of ideas. I'm following the elf threads on the Family board in hopes of getting some to add to my list  I'm trying to have him hold off on arriving until Dec. 1st instead of the day after Thanksgiving so that I only have to come up with 24 things..... :)

LOL! I hadn't read your post until after I posted mine and was LOL about the radio station! Same thing here too :confused: I for one would love to have it start this week :santa:

I finished my shopping for my kids yesterday and now I have to work on everyone else. I shop early every year but I don't know what it was about yesterday, I was almost giddy with excitement about Christmas, I was thinking of getting some decorations out but settled for some Christmas-y scented candles  I think dh may have had heart attack if he came home and the house was all decked out.

My husband would lose his mind! LOL I am doing some housework today- while listening to my Christmas tunes. Does anyone have any ideas as far as music goes? I have a Christmas playlist on Napster, but I'm running out of tunes. I have some faves plus music from Home Alone and A Charlie Brown Christmas- what are some of your favorites??

Halloween decorations are put away.

Thanksgiving table decorations are out.

Christmas decorations soon to follow.

Most of my shopping is done.

I like to get done early so we can drive around to the lights, enjoy watching Christmas shows and enjoy the decorations. It helps that we don't need to move or store furniture for the tree and it does not "get in the way". I love, love, love this time of the year!

Pandora has several Christmas channels. I am listening to Swingin Christmas. They are playing Frank Sinatra. :)

I am putting all Halloween away today. I am bringing out a few Christmas things this week.

We are going out of town for Thanksgiving. A combo Disney/In-laws trip. So I am not even bothering to put up Thanksgiving.

I have bought a few things, but I have a Christmas wish list on Amazon that I am putting ideas into.

I am so excited for Chrismas! :santa:

Joining in :santa:.

I'm pretty much a "no Christmas decorating before Halloween" person, but I'm definitely happy to see hints of Christmas and hum a song here and there before Thanksgiving! (My radio station is already playing one a day.:goodvibes )

I shop and tuck things away throughout the year, too.

Good to know the elf threads have started. I need some good ideas this year!

Does anyone else love the song "We Need a Little Christmas" from the musical "Mame"?

I'm not working on decorating yet (although if I get a warm enough day I'm going to get those outside lights done!!). I am, though, working on shopping and planning the homemade gifts we'll make. I hope that counts enough to join in on this thread!

We usually give homemade peppermint bark to all of the kids' teachers, but I think maybe I want to try chocolate-dipped pretzels this year, too. I want to experiment this weekend with that.

I'll check out Pandora thanks! I've been having a hard time with Live365 lately. I'm working for LLBean now so I have gotten some nice deals on things!!

This is my Kind of Thread!!!!!:santa::santa::santa: I'm hoping to start decorating a bit on Sunday night after DD2s b'day party. I spent ALL day yesterday getting the living room and dining room Christmas ready. We bought an artificial tree last year so we will probably put it up on Thanksgiving. It's smaller than our usual tree so hopefully everything will fit on it. I have to rearrange a bit of furniture to put it up so I've gotten started on that.

Started listening to Christmas music 2 weeks ago and have all the music on my ipod ready to go.

I'll start by putting up my Christmas village on the stairway and mantle.

We're headed to Disney Dec. 1 so I want everything up before then! I can't wait! 4 weeks from tomorrow!!!!!!

I've got a bunch of shopping for DD's already done:thumbsup2 However, I made myself set aside $700 for black friday shopping so I will finish them up then.

Decorating will happen right after black friday shopping :lmao:

The month of December all I do is bake, bake, bake and enjoy the holiday season. All shopping will be done!

No pictures here- I wont' be able to decorate until after Thanksgiving- or my dh will move out! :lmao:

I love this time of year- from now until New years day!:santa:

my main goal is to have the house clean and ready to go on Thanksgiving weekend and hit the ground running!:rotfl: I am usually playing catch up that weekend!

DH will take down the Halloween and get started on outside this weekend - but we won't light anything until Thanksgiving.

I am ready, but I have to get the house and everything ready!!!!

I don't mind shopping in the middle of everything. We have a small family and usually get ideas when we ar all together for Thanksksgiving, What I love is getting the shopping done and then heading to the mall after just to take it all in and relax.

:santa:
