Getting picture taken at WDW

Hey everybody, I hope I can get as much help with this question as I have from all of you about other questions.
I am trying to think of different ways to surprise my wife while at Disney, and one thing that I keep coming back to is a surprise photo of the family.
Now I know that there are photopass cards, and people to take your picture in front of the Castle, but what else is availalbe?
I've heard people asking about the old-time photos, but haven't actually heard an answer. Is that something that Disney offers? (If so, where would it be located?)
Are there any other "special" photo places to get unusual pictures taken? What about portrait sketches? Is there something for the whole family? (I should probably specifiy that there are four of us, Me, my wife, my DS 10, and DD 7).
Any feedback or suggestions, like always, would be greatly appreciated.

giftsofalifetome.com is the place you need to go. They do great photo events. She's got one posted where someone follows you and takes great candid shots, covertly. Then they meet you in the restroom with the roll in a gift box to present your wife. Then you spend the rest of the time for posed shots in your favorite places. Jane is the best!

Slight typo, is http://giftsofalifetime.com/ (not life tome). . . hope this helps and you have a magical trip!!

That definately sounds interesting, something to think about.
Anybody else have any suggestions? And does anybody know if they offer the old-time photos at WDW?

Wow, not many posters about this question (this wouldn't happen to be one of those TourGide Mike secrets, would it?)

Seriously, though, I've read many posts of people asking about the old-time photos, and never have seen a reply. Unfortunately, it isn't something that seems to be readily available on the net either. So if anybody knows, please share the info :cool1:
Also, I am still hoping to hear about other kinds of photo oportunities at WDW.
The one mentioned does sound interesting, but I would love to hear some others.
Again, thank you.

Nope, sorry, there are no old-time photos that I know of in the WDW parks, resorts, or DTD.

Disney's Photopass photographers can be found at the entranceways and park icons of all 4 theme parks (castle, Spaceship Earth, Sorcerers Hat, Tree of Life), and in a few other locations such as Main Street, Hollywood Blvd, and the walkway from Furute World to World Showcase. During MVMCP I have also seen them in front of Crystal Palace, and I saw them outside Donald's Breakfastosaurus as well.

Disney is currently experimenting with adding ride photos to the Photopass system. I believe that Test Track is up and running now, with other rides to follow.

Besides photos, you can often find charicature artists on the Boardwalk and at Downtown Disney.

Keep in mind that any CM will take your pic with your camera, all you need to do is ask. So if you find a spot that would make a great photo, pose the family and look around for a CM.

Thank you very much, it wasn't the answer I was perhaps hoping to hear, but at least now I can plan a little better.
Now, about the other photographers, do they all submit their photos for the photopass, or are there some indepedents? About how much would one really nice 8x11 (for example) picture cost of the family in front of the castle (again, for example).
What about the characture drawings. Would you happen to know off-hand about how much that costs?
Again, I really appreciate any information about this. It will make planning a whole lot easier.

This isn't really a picture, but there used to be someone in Liberty Square who cut out silhouettes. We haven't had them done in many years but I think when we were there in 2004 someone was still doing them. Like I said not a picture, but it's still a neat thing to have. May not be as special as you're looking for.

I don't know if they're anywhere else in WDW, but at the Beach Club, there is an artist who does beautiful portraits. They look like pastels, maybe? I didn't actually see him/her at work, but I saw samples of his/her work & a time schedule when the artist would be available. These were beautiful, high-quality portraits, nothing like the silly caricatures I've seen done at other resorts.

They used to do the old time photographs. The place was located on Main Street at MK. I have one from when I was 8! That was over 25 years ago! I remember having so much fun getting dressed up in the "old time" clothes. The setting, I believe, was the back of a train and somewhere on the back of the train was the word Mickey and maybe even a picture of him too. The next time I am at my parent's house I will check it out.

Actually, I've heard about that before, and really do like that idea. It is definately something worth considering. BTW, you wouldn't happen to have a ball park figure of the price would you?

Also, the idea about the portraits at the Beach Club, sounds very interesting. Could they do a whole family of four at one time? Or would you have to have all four done seperately? Also, any idea of the cost of this?

Again, thank you all very much, you are giving me some great ideas to look into. :Pinkbounc

Another recommendation for Gifts of a Lifetime. They did 2 scavenger hunts for us (one Villain, one Star Wars) and they are fantastic!!!
