Can someone give me some advice on renting a car from the port. We are going on the EB Repo Cruise and will need to rent a car at the port to drive to WDW. I was thinking my husband could get off the ship and go to the rental place via shuttle pick up the car and head back to the pier to pick us up.
Another question, do we have to call ahead for the shuttle? Any rental place you would recommend? I have been to Dave's site and will refer to that when the time comes.
Another option maybe trasfers from the port to WDW, but when I asked about that when I made my reservation the DCL rep did not know if they were going to provide that.

we are using avis and they have a free shuttle van to the office about 2 to 3 miles away when you get off the ship

We used Budget, which I believe has the closest office to the ship, near the Radisson. They have regularly scheduled shuttles on Saturday mornings back and forth. We waited about 10 minutes and loaded up the whole family into the shuttle, which worked fine. Or you could send just one person to the Budget office.

This is very easy. Don't stress over it. We used Avis. The luggage helper that I would suggest using when you disembark will take you and your luggage directly to this big white tent that is set up with lines for the different rental car agencies. Budget and Avis are the two I can remember. The rental car shuttle comes right to the tent, loads in your luggage, and off you go. Very easy. You do not have to call the shuttle yourself.
