I'm getting my hair cut short tomorrow. It's now about two inches down my back, and I've decided to get it cut to about an inch below my ears. I've done a ton of research and looked at a lot of magazine. I also consulted with the person cutting my hair. I'm 90% sure it's going to look really good and much better than the mop I have now. But....I'm still nervous.

Someone once told me that overweight people shouldn't have short hair. I guess that always sticks in my mind. But, the long hair just makes me look worse, since it won't do anything. And, it's not like it hides my weight. Plus, I'm ready for just something different. I'm also getting it cut and colored.

Any words of encouragement?

Go for it! :cheer2: I just chopped all mine off a couple of weeks ago. It felt sooooo good. I had let my hair grow out when I was prego with DS and it was looking really bad. It's so nice now not to have to blowdry my hair forever! I'm sure it will look super nice!

Have fun and relax, it's only hair and will grow back. I'm also hacking mine off and coloring it tomorrow. I had it shorter, then my DSis got married last year so I grew it out to do an updo, now it's time for it to go! Perfect for spring.

Just think of all the money you'll save on shampoo!

I love having short hair, and you're right- people can still see I'm chunky whether I have long hair or short.. I think it depends on more than that. Go for it!

Do it! I did it for Locks of Love when somebody on the DIS suggested it and it felt great. I just received my thank you card from them and those warm fuzzies came back in spades. If you're getting at least 10 inches cut off, please think about donating it. You'll feel great about it!

I'm overweight and I was amazed at how much better I look with short hair. Everybody I know has told me how much younger I look.

Do it! LOVE LOVE LOVE my short hair. Had long hair through my 20's. Early 30's cut it really short and haven't looked back. My hair cut is so easy to maintain too - blow dry it upside down, a little Bed Head manipulator, done!

Go for it!!! I'm in the process of growing my hair for Locks of Love (I have about 14 inches ready to cut at the moment, but I'm going to grow it as long as I can stand it!!!), but I can't wait to get my hair cut!!! Long hair is a pain in the BUTT....I have semi-wavy brown hair and it currently hangs about 3 inches below my bra strap.

I got it cut and love it!! It's exactly what I hoped. For the first time in a long time, I look my age, not 10 years older. I feel hip and fun. Now, we'll see if I can do it tomorrow. :rotfl:

I just got mine cut last week. It is very short and I love it. It looks great right out of the shower and I don't have to do anything with it. I look 10 years younger too.

Post a picture!!!!

mine was half way down my back last week..today it is chin length..and it feels so wonderful...people keep telling me that it makes me look younger..and it's so much less work to keep looking good..wash..spray gel or mousse..fluff..and go!
so GO FOR IT!...you will feel so much better!

I just got home from getting my hair cut. My kids said, I like it the old way. You know what I say, get over it. It will grow longer in about a week. If your not up to doing some thing so drastic, take it one layer at a time. Just have your stylist start at one point and have the layers get shorter when ever you are ready.

If your dh is like my dh, he'll whine about how short it is and how he'd like it longer. Doing it gradually gets his prepared for the ideal look. If you don't have a dh, you are fortunate to not have to hear any whining.

Getting my hair cut, I have had 3 opportunities to "chop it off" but haven't made the appointment yet. :confused3 I too, am overweight, and have had it short before, but everyone I know likes it long. :guilty: Well, next wednesday it THE day! :teeth:

from a guys point of view. i find short hair very sexy...on a woman that is.

My daughter hated it at first, but has come around a bit. DS1 keeps looking at me funny, but as soon as he hears my voice, he's fine. I love it. I keep looking at myself in the mirror. I just hope I can make it look like this on Monday. :teeth:
