We have had about 15 days of hot, humid, rainy, cloudy weather, which has resulted in mold forming on my deck. I tried power washing with an oxy clean solution and no luck. I tried using a bleach cleaner as well. No luck.

Any suggestions?

Mold~~ Use conventional deck washes or cleaners that contain sodium hypochlorite (bleach) and detergent (refer to Mold Technical Bulletin).
Treat with PSC Composite DeckAfterKlean (www.psc-solutions.com) or Anti-Growth (www.anti-growth.com) to delay regrowth.
Periodic cleaning of your deck, even if it appears clean, is important to prevent the build-up of pollen/debris that can cause mold.

Unfortunately we have the opposite problem....it's so dry and hot in the summer and we get so much snow in the winter that the poor deck looks like crap most of the year.

Have you tried a solution of TSP? Available at Home Depot/Lowes/etc.

We had mold growing in the basement of our store, when we researched I found the most effective thing to git rid of it was vinegar. It worked for us, a year later no mold and we only spent 2 dollars. Now I don't know about decks but it couldnt hurt.....

cool, I will try... we have 2 gallons of vinegar on hand.

We have a pressure washer, but I don't think it does a very good job on mold. You may hate me for saying this, but the only thing that works for me is a ratio of about 25% bleach to very very hot water, and scrubbing the deck with a deck brush.

We did the whole chlorine thing to kill the mold (heck I own a pool store I could have keep using it for years) but what I kept reading was that the chlorine (or bleach) only temporarily kills the mold ...

And Tsp... love it .. we use it to wash down all the walls every time my father gets new renters in his apartments...kind of scary the dirt that comes off!

Do you like your Trex deck versus treated wood? We're looking into this. :sunny:

We just built a new home and opted for the TREX deck on my Farmer's Porch in the front of the house....traditional deck on the back(pressure treated wood)...

ANYWAY, EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE comments on how nice it is and NO care at all. :thumbsup2

Oh YEAH! We REALLY love it. Only real downside was / is the cost. But it is so much better than the wood.

So the TSP kills it for good? I'll go to home depot tomorrow!

Oops sorry , no i read the vinegar does ( and has here at my store) but I love Tsp for other things. Sorry for the confusion! Good luck I know getting rid of mold can be frustrating.
