Getting high-demand concert tix

I know I've seen a ton of threads all over the DIS about getting Miley Cyrus or Taylor Swift tickets, and I know those go super-fast. Any of you with recent experience have any tips on how to score high-demand concert tickets these days?

I'm almost ashamed to admit that the last time I wanted tickets to something sure to sell out was long enough ago that the solution was to line up at Ticketmaster hours before they opened. Here we are, 10 years later, and I don't think there are even actual Ticketmaster windows left to go to! But Kid Rock is kicking off his tour a few days before my son's 13th birthday, and through the last 3 tours he's been asking to go but we've just been too busy, or money too tight, or something. So I want to get him tickets for his birthday, but Kid Rock in Detroit is always a quick sell-out.

This would be too late for this concert. For future concerts, I wonder if he has a fan site that gives his fans a chance at early ticket sales? I belong to a different singers fan club, got 3rd row center tickets a month before they went on sale to the public.

I bought Lady Gaga tix this am;from stub hub~ Ticket master had nothing left~ I should have bought them the day the went on sale

That would be my best advice~ order as soon as they go on sale; I do know my amex card comes w some pre-sale ticket offers sometimes; you could check w your credit card issuers.

I rarely if ever go to concerts anymore, so I don't have an answer for you.

But. . . .while you absolutely typed your thread title correctly, I'm so used to seeing improper grammar/punctuation that I automatically "translated" your thread title into "Getting high. Demand Concert Tickets" and had to open it up to see what it was about . I've been misreading a lot of thread titles like that lately for some reason.

That crossed my mind, but the concert was just announced yesterday and the tix go on sale on Black Friday (of course! the one day I'm NOT at my computer at 10am!) so I'm not sure there will be a presale. The presale code has already gone out for another date on the tour that goes on sale a week later, but no word on a fan club presale for the Detroit date.

The tour has just been announced and it doesn't look like tickets are on sell yet. Go to ticketmaster.com and you can register your e-mail and set alerts for when his tickets will go on sell. You will get an e-mail reminder. I would think at Ford Field, if you got on right at the time tickets went on sale, you should get them.

Also you can try to join a club with Ford Field that could get you a presale password. I joined the one here in Pittsburgh for Consol Energy Center and I get e-mails and presale opportunities for most shows.

First, the key is frequenting the act's website and knowing when the tour starts, when tour dates are announced, and when tix go on sale. About 15 minutes before they go on sale, log in to your Ticketmaster account. If you don't have one, create one. Just before the sale starts, find the show you want on the Ticketmaster site. It will say "tix go on sale blah blah blah". At exactly 10:00, hit refresh on your browser. The page should change to show various ticket price levels. The rest of the process is self explanatory. Even if you are not available that day when they go on sale, can someone else do it for you? You might be able to wait until later in the day, but maybe not if it sells out quickly.

Sometimes fan clubs will offer pre-sales or fan tickets. Each artist does it differently, which is why it's important to frequent their site to be aware of how they handle things. Some actes are very anti-scalping, like Pearl Jam, and have extra security procedures.

If you can't get anything from Ticketmaster, you can always try Stub Hub, but keep in mind prices will probably be higher than face value. You could always wait and look for last minute tickets for a good price. There is always someone who can't go at the last minute! You can always try Ticketmaster again at the last minute also, to see of additional seats have been released.

Am I reading this right that he is playing in a stadium??? Does he really sell out venues THAT large so quickly that you have to worry about it selling out in minutes? I know he's from there, but that shocks me!

Keep checking TM for onsale information but be aware not every concert is sold through TM so check the venue and artist website daily as well.

Chances are there will be a pre-sale of some sort. Here is a great site updated daily that has pre-sale passwords.

Then, as others have said, be ready that exact moment the tickets go on sale. If you can't be there that day, get a friend to buy them for you. Buying tickets always completely stresses me out!! So good luck!

I would echo the advice to join a fan club. Many acts make tickets available to fan clubs before they go on sale to the general public. Also check to see if there is a tie in with a tour sponsor. The sponsor will sometimes offer special ticket offers.

I hear ya on Kid Rock in Detroit, that's a hard one!

We always have success on ebay and stubhub, even though the prices can be inflated. I don't have much more advice, but I hope you get the tickets! He always puts on the best shows in the D!

I think he will sell out Ford Field quickly. He booked one show at DTE and sold it out in minutes and then added 2 more nights. He has sold out 21 shows between the Palace (basketball arena for the Pistons) and DTE. January in Detroit isn't a hotbed of activity and people will be anticipating who else will show up to play that show since it's his 40th birthday bash. This summer Bob Seger and Jamey Johnson showed up at his concert.

Oh I meant to say, I bought my tickets this summer off Craiglist and paid $100 each for $55 tickets. I would do that again if it was a show I wanted to see.
