Part of the reason I booked Ft W cabins as part of our vaca (we are doing a split stay ~ AKL/Ft W cabins) is so we could save a little bit of $$ by cooking dinner/having breakfast 'in'. However, this was based upon the fact that we were originally DRIVING to WDW. Our plans have changed and we are flying (airfare just too good to pass up!). So, now I won't have a vehicle to go to Goodings to buy groceries. Now what?? I know that there is a store at Ft W, but do they have meat and produce? And, aren't they a bit pricey?? Any suggestions or advice??

The trading posts have a limited selection but they do have some meats and canned and frozen foods. It is a little pricy but not really too bad for most things. I've also seen info about a service at http://wegoshop.com/ that will deliver your foods. I've not used it, though, so I can't vouch for it. The closest store to Disney is the Goodings across from the Downtown Disney hotels, and their prices are almost the same the trading posts.

I was in a similar situation...2 week trip to the cabins with 5 kids and no car. I used www.WeGoShop.com and had a great experience. I'm definitely going to use them again!

Another big thumbs-up for WEGOSHOP.COM

They just delivered all of our goodies to the cabin. Prompt, good communication, courteous. We were thrilled not to do our normal food packin' on this trip.

Goodings in DTD is very expensive. Have WeGoShop get your groceries from Publix. They are best grocery chain in Florida.

The Trading Post is priicey! Fort Wilderness has a back public service road which you can use. Don't use the front entrance you came in and you're only 15 to 20 minutes away from gas stations, restaurants and grocery stores. There is a guard gate which they will give you a pass. To find it just ask when you check in the quickest way to the Disney Animal Kennels and you need gas.

How are you getting from the airport to WDW? Towncar services often will allow a 30 min grocery stop (other than Goodings!!! $$$$!)

We've always done the stop with Tiffany Town Car. It's very easy if you have a list.

...because we will be staying at AKL for the first part of our trip. What would we do with the perishables??

At our grocery stop we purchase a styrofoam cooler (less than $10), and use the hotel ice. We fill it with milk, water, soda, cheese, yogurt, fruit  , etc. At the end of our stay we simply throw the cooler away. Just trying to help. Good luck!
