Getting frustrated where are the AP Discounts???

Lexxiefern,

My mom's boss doesn't "believe" there are discounts either. Well, this past May my mom was one fo the POFQ refugees and got BWI for $104! Tha was becasue she had a $74 rate at POFQ-more like it. $186-that's crazy. You would not believe all of the FL residents who know NOTHING about disney. Our generation grew up going-it was hot, crowded (pre FP), and expensive. Most people groan when I mention Disney.

I am a seasonal passolder from FL. Yeah! One person so far!

Actually, most of the time it is very hard to get a discount last minute-even if there are room only, ap and FL res rates out at the same time. We tried for the same day and had to pay rack rate at ASSp-$99. The other two times we've stayed at the AS , the rate was $49- a very good deal. I might pay rack at CSR, since I love it so much, but $199 at AKL or WL to look at a parking lot is not worth it to me.

We're from MA. We're new AP holders and it made more sense to have these passes for our 12 day trip. we (2 adults) really like the freedom of being able to come and go to all the parks. These passes also give some discounts for shopping and food, plus the chance to get a great room discount sold me! I'm very confident that will happen for our trip next June/July!

i live in fl with an AP but i had one when i lived in TX and most of my family in MI also has one and they drive one to three times a year for about 18 years. they were happy to find out abuot the discounts around 7 years ago before that they stayed rack rate at deluxe for years.

UK AP holder - 8 and a half hour flight, driving not an option! Bought AP coz make 2/3 trips a year and after the 7th day we're in the parks for free! (And yes we have done a couple of 4 day trips!) If discounts available we stay at AKL, if not we stay All Stars or off site - we're not precious! Hey - we're in Florida. We love to stay onsite but it doesn't break our hearts to be in a fully-equipped villa with a pool where we don't have to have our keycards checked to be able to swim - and our version of refillable mugs is to go to the refrigerator!

AP holder-Former Ohioan, recently moved to Illinois.
I got an AP last December due mainly to the ticket cost (after 8 days, it's a better deal). I've gotten discounts on rooms the last few times I've stayed on-site though none of them were AP. With the discounts, the rooms are resonably priced, but still high. without discounts, I'd just find a nice hotel for a good price offsite.

I'm waiting for some sort of discount for a December trip. IMHO, The market does not justify the prices of Disney's rack rate in early December. Hopefully, there will be some sort of discount, if not Disney will have 2 extra empty rooms as we will be off site. I split my stay last year between the Hard Rock and AKL due to inability to get discounts for the entire trip and I discovered a great hotel in the Hard Rock.

DW and I have AP's and have had them for 9 years. Visit WDW 2-4 times per year, for at least a week each time, we stay at WDW resorts. We live in Indiana. Flight about 2 hours 15 minutes and haven't driven yet.

DH and I are Mass. AP holders as well. We bought them for our honeymoon in December (we received lots of Disney dollars as gifts!) and were able to return last month for a second AP trip. We stayed offsite for both trips, with the exception of our last two nights this past trip which we spent at CBR using the AP rate for a king bed room at $99. Since we took a voluntary bump off our flight on this last trip, the airline vouchers that we received as compensation are going to allow us a third trip (which we were not anticipating since we just moved into our first home last week and are now worrying about a mortgage!) this fall before our APs expire, with nothing to pay for except accomodations and food. If we can get a decent AP rate, we're going to try to stay in AKL which we have heard great things about. If not, offsite it will be! We were thrilled to be able to get so much usage out of the APs. The best part of having APs for us is not feeling the need to be at the parks at the crack of dawn and stay until closing, just to get our money's worth, like we used to do with park hoppers.

Another NJ AP holder here. About 2 1/2 hour flight, or 17-18 hour drive, broken into 13-14 hours the first day and 3-4 hours the second. We also love DVC HH, and when I told my 6 year old we were going to WDW again in October (2nd trip on AP) she said, "Why don't we go to HH instead". She just doesn't get the already paid for factor. I agree with Kim on the not feeling like you waste a day if you are not in the parks start to finish, really makes for a more relaxing trip, esp. since we are there a min. of 7 or 8 nights. Considering going the house rental way this trip if we don't get a discount, but I have faith we will.

11 to 12 hour drive (hard to believe from North Alabama). 1 1/2 hour flight from Huntsville. We use our AP fairly often. Got the AP discount for my Aug. trip, but I am anxiously awaiting rates for Sept.:bounce:. My inlaws have never been to Dis and are really wanting to go. They are planning on buying an AP just for the rates.

I live in MD and don't have an AP but was seriously considering getting them for my family as we would probably get two trips out of them making it worthwhile. I'm not sure now if it's something I will do. I guess we will see how everything pans out.

I do find this thread interesting as it seems that some are almost looking down their little noses at us bargain "hounds"!! Why get so heated to someone because they say they will not go to Disney if they cannot get a decent room rate. Why ridicule someone for that? Those of us who are not willing to pay inflated room costs are not worthy of a Disney resort?

I'm with the no discounts this year, no trip this year crowd. My family simply cannot afford (and feel "ok" about it) rack rates on the deluxe resorts. I do not care for the other resorts... I would rather not go at all. Maybe this seems odd to some, but the resort is a BIG part of our pleasure experience.

I also refuse to stay off site for a "Disney" trip. If we are staying off site we will try other parks we have not been to such as Sea World and Universal. Disney is just not Disney to me without the whole experience. My family has already been a few times and we will just bide our time until a reasonable rate comes out. Until then ... Disney gets no money from us! I just cannot justify in my mind spending that kind of money. Disney or not.... as much as it pains me to say that!!!

If nothing comes out for December we will opt for an on site trip to Uni (if they have good rates) or a Cruise since most lines heavily discount around the time we are going.

Now I LOVE WDW! I am truly a Disney freak ... so it has nothing to do with my lfeelings for the darn place! Therefore no scolding or bashing is needed just because I'm not willing to pay over what I can pay without feeling guilty about it!
