We are a family of four - two adults, two kids (boy and a girl). We are planning to go to DL 1/6-1/10. I have a few criteria for choosing a hotel and need help figuring out which hotels qualify. I know the Park Vue does, as we stayed there two years ago, but all of these horrible reviews about it lately are really freaking me out.

My requirements:
#1. Easy walking distance.

#2. Separate beds for the kids. This could mean bunks, or a separate room with two beds. I would prefer not to have to put a kid on a pull-out couch.

#3. Low-ish cost. I'd love to stay under $150/night incl taxes, resort fees, wifi, etc. We won't have a car.

I've looked at Desert Inn & Suites, but for those dates, the room with the extra bedroom is $209 before taxes, which is more than I want to spend.

Thank you for any insight!

HOJO? They have kids suites and run about $150/night.

Hojo is my first choice too. We really enjoy the kid suite. BUT it doesn't appear to be currently available for your dates AND $150 is a bit outdated with regard to price unfortunately unless there is a special. $150 is the current non-discounted price for a single room with two double beds at Hojo for those dates, so if the suite should become available it will be more expensive, probably even if you find a discount.

The two separate beds preference and walking distance requirement and price limit do make finding something a bit challenging I'm afraid. From comments I've seen on these boards, I would suggest taking a look at Carousel Inn and Suites and Desert Palms Hotel and Suites in addition to the places already mentioned.

Unfortunately, the Kid's Suite is unavailable for the dates I need, but even with the Mousesavers discount, it was out of my budget. I could only get the two queen room for for that price.

Let me ask you this - how bad of an idea is it really to book Park Vue? I know it fits all of my requirements. The room with the bunks is small, but I don't really care about that. I just really don't want to bring home bed bugs or anything of that nature.

The Desert Palm looks like it's too far to walk - do you go to the main entrance, or how does that work?

The Del Sol has bunk beds and is not on the Bed Bug list. Very close too.

Hey! The Del Sol is a great price, thank you so much. Decent reviews on that hotel? I really know nothing about it. The website looks cute, lol.

I stayed at BWPPI this August and I recommend it. The location cannot be beat. It is right next door to Park Vue Inn, which it sounds like you are familiar with. Both hotels are directly across the street from the east side entrance to Disneyland.

BWPPI has mini suites that, from their description, should provide separate sleeping choices for your children:

"Non Smoking room has 2 Queen Beds, a Queen size sleeper sofa and includes a microwave, refridgerator, free high speed wireless internet, iron and ironing board, coffee maker and hairdryer. All rooms include continental breakfast."

(Hmmm, perhaps we need to worry that they misspelled refrigerator...)

Have you looked at the Ramada Maingate at the park? We haven't stayed there yet, but are booked for our next trip. I've read a lot of good reviews about it. We got a free upgrade for the 2 queen beds deluxe room for $149 a night. You can request a free rollaway bed with the deluxe room, which is what we are doing. Make sure you click on their specials when you go to their website for the upgrade or free gas offer. Someone asked how far they were from DLR and they say they are located 500 feet from the crosswalk.

BWPPI also has a no car discount.

Mini suites are two queens and a pullout sofabed. Will your kids share a queen? Or one use the sofabed? My son likes using the sofabed so he doesn't have to share a bed.

We have been very happy with this hotel, and we now use it as our go to place to stay on our trips.

I would check into the Ramada Maingate. We stayed there last year and loved it. They have free rollaways, and a room-type with 2 queens and a sofa sleeper which was very comfortable. I slept on it one night and had no problems.

I do think it's a bad idea to book the Park Vue. The issue isn't just bed bugs, it'sthe horrible customer service if anything happens to go wrong with your stay.

If you are adamant about no sleeper sofas, then you might try Camelot or Tropicana suites - they basically have two rooms together, and are within walking distance. The Cortona is a little bit farther, but also within walking distance, and has a separate room with bunk beds.

If you can do with a pull-out, then Best Western Park Place offers two double (or queen) beds and a sofa sleeper in their mini suites. The Fairfield Inn has a single pull-out bed from a sofa chair. These are all within walking distance.

You can get a family suite at the Anaheim Marriott Suites for only $83/night through here: Lastminutetravel.com LMT has cheap prices and lots of people on the boards here use them! I plan to use them for our next trip! Really hoping a nice low Marriott Suites deal will be available for our family of five this time next year too!! The one thing with LMT, is that unless you are a member, it doesn't show the name of the hotel, but if you ask on the Dis, based on the hotel's pics, somebody here will definitely be able to tell you which hotel you are looking at! The Marriott is labeled as the 4-star hotel in Garden Grove/Anaheim. :thumbsup2

Oh, I should note that we have also stayed at the Cortona and really enjoyed the space and rooms there....nice hotel! The walk is a little far, but not terrible. We've also done Dessert inn and LOVED the across the street proximity to the parks there! Yes, they can be VERY expensive, but check often! I found that they sometimes run really great specials! I believe we only paid $119/night for one of their larger 2 room suites for 8 of us!

You are welcome! If you are driving the parking is the only real problem with the Del Sol. Ur right, the price can't be beat especially for being so close, right next door to DLR! Hope you find a place soon and have lots of fun!

I checked out Last Minute Travel, and they're currently doing a promo for free membership. Just thought I'd mention it if anyone is interested.

Just wanted to update. I went ahead and booked five nights at the Del Sol in the room with two queens and a bunk bed. After taxes, it came to about $550, which I thought was a great deal. I'm happy! Thanks to everyone for the recommendations, and particularly to Sarah for mentioning the Del Sol as it wasn't even on my radar.

Yay! I'm sooo glad I could help someone!! I pray u have a pleasant stay at the Del Sol, esp considering I recommended it. If you are driving, I hope the parking won't be an issue for you as it has been for some others. I'm visiting the Del Sol in December...xcited. I've never been to the Del Sol before. I went off the review and pictures and the PRICE. I have visited the HoJo however and it was very nice. I did think it was too pricey though. To me, you are paying for a mini water park and that is really the only big deal about the place. Not putting it down tho cuz I did like the cleanliness. Was just too expensive for what you get and when kids get older the mini water park will be un necessary. Anyway, I got a good deal also at Del Sol, total came to $606.12. Being mid December for 6 nights that is incredible. Hey, u may get a bit of a discount (if u haven't already) if you are a Costco member. Also, if you go to Youtube and search " anaheim Del Sol tour" u will see a quick video of a room done 10 months ago. Again, glad to help and I hope you all have a FAB time!!

I just came home from a stay in the 2 queen/bunk bed room. We love it there. It was our 4th stay. It's always clean and service is great. The walk is very short and off the street which is nice. The pool is warm and has cool lights at night. Watch the "extra" fees though. If you don't use the safe, let them know and they will remove the safe charge for your room. There is a $5/day resort fee that can catch you off guard. If you can, get an upstairs room. Depending on who is above you, if you're on the ground floor, it can sound like a heard of elephants at 5am!
