My husband and I land at MCO at 5:30pm on Sunday night and we have dinner reservations at the Teppan Edo restaurant at 7:50. If everything goes perfectly, what would be the quickest way for us to get from one point to the other. Or am I being way to unrealistic?
Our first trip to WDW celebrating our 60th birthdays. Would love some additional tips about getting around.

I think you will be cutting it close time wise.

I assume you are taking ME - which means you should allow at least an hour from the time you land until you arrive at the Poly. Taking WDW transportation to Epcot, you should also allow at least an hour. You then have to walk from the front of Epcot to World Showcase so would need to allow time for that.

I agree, it does seem like you're going to be cutting it close.

One way to get to Epcot is to walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center from the Polynesian and take the monorail. If you have a car it might be easier.

I will say that I am very jealous you're staying at the Poly-it is one of my favorite resorts!

Thank you both for your replies - having never been there before I was not sure what to expect. I didn't realize until later the distance and timing. I may try to change that reservation so that we're eating somewhere closer that night.
Somehow I read that quite a few people liked the Poly and we just chose it on a hunch. We tried to spend as much money as we could on this special occasion - not only both our 60th birthdays but our 40th anniversary.
We are getting so excited :) Both of us grew up living close to Disneyland and have been there often. Disney World has always been a dream for me.

Congratulations, it sounds like you have a lot to celebrate. As others have said, it is a bit of a long trip from Poly to WS at Epcot. I know that with DME I have been told to expect 90 minutes from time of landing to getting to any of the hotels. If your flight lands at 5:30, I would plan to be checking in around 7:00. If you are not worried about going first to your room and refreshing, then you might just make it to a 7:50 reservation, but you would probably feel rushed.

If you decide to try for something closer to your resort, obviously anything at the Poly would be close. The Grand Floridian is within walking distance to Poly. Contemporary is along the resort monorail. If you still want to eat at someplace at Epcot, I think anything after 8:15 would give you time to check in, visit your room and make it to Epcot without feeling too rushed. Since it is your first visit it is likely that you will need the extra time.

As the previous posters suggested, if you decide to go to Epcot, walk from the Poly to TTC so that you can get on the direct monorail to Epcot. This site give a good overview on transportation options "AllEars Transportation".

Also, make sure to look at the maps you can find in the link below so that when you get there, you know where you might need to go. This could be helpful if you try to get to a restaurant in Epcot the night you arrive. Knowing somewhat which direction you need to go before getting there should help.

My husband and I decided to switch our reservation to Citrico's at 8pm that first night - much closer and looks like we will enjoy it. I re-reserved Teppan in place of Le Cellier. We'll save that one for another visit.
Thanks again for helping us with our trip planning. I am now starting to read all the articles and watch videos in earnest...knowing it's just a couple of weeks away Nov 13-18.
:goodvibes

You may consider Kona Cafe at the POLY. Great service and great food--I and some others here would say it is one of the best Disney has to offer.
I would order the teryiyaki style strip steak... never had a person with me not finish it or say a bad thing... Dessert does not matter they are amazing...
get the Kona coffee press pot if you like coffee...
Citrico's is a great choice however be aware this is signiture and you will be there for a few hours at the very least and may not be the best choice for day one -- save it for day 2 :lmao:

Anthony,
We have reservations at Kona for breakfast - at least twice - but you may have a point about Citricos being too "much" for our first night.
So why....does it take a couple of hours to eat at Citricos?
Obviously I am not a fine dining person :confused3
