Getting from SSR to parks

We're renting points and staying at SSR in May. My husband is sad that there's no monorail or boat launch, and that we have to take the bus. SSR was the only place left to stay and it looks beautiful, but we'd originally planned to stay at the Boardwalk Inn which seems more in the middle of things.

How long does it take to get to Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Animal Kingdom by bus?

And, is there no room service at SSR? Do any villas have room service?

Thanks!

Depending on what park you are going to. Anywhere from 10 -25 minutes but I would request to stay in Congress Park because it is only a 5 minute walk to Downtown Disney where you can get a bus to anywhere in the world including other resorts. As an example to use the monorail you can walk to DTD get a bus to the contemporary of the Grand Floridian and then rise the monorail in.

The length of bus rides at SSR depend on which park you're heading to. We stayed there last May and thought the bus service was great. Unlike other resorts (Boardwalk) you don't share your bus with other resorts. That is, you don't stop and pick up at other resorts before/after heading to/from the parks. That is a big plus right there. You can take the boat over or walk to DTD. It's not that far.

Have a great trip.

Welcome to the Dis!
We've had excellent bus service at SSR, so don't let that get you down. As already mentioned bus rides to the parks will be 10-20 minutes. You can go direct to a park from SSR or walk, boat ride or bus over to DTD and catch a bus there to any of the other resorts.

No room service, unless you order the resort pizza delivery (I'd recommend Papa John's instead) There is CS (Artist Palette) at the Carriage House and TS (Turf Club) We've had great food at both.

It is a beautiful resort :cloud9: I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay :goodvibes

Actually that's a waste of time. The bus to Magic Kingdom takes you to the park gates, much quicker than riding the monorail or ferry in from the parking lot. All resort busses do that.

If you want to get to the Magic Kingdom resorts, you would just take the bus to MK then hop the monorail to Grand Floridian, Polynesian or Contemporary. Or you can just walk over to the Contemporary. It is a short walk from the bus drop off.

The DTD bus lot is great if you want to bus directly to the Boardwalk area or AKL. Otherwise, you can just hop a bus from any park then back to DTD in the evening to walk or ferry home to SSR.

As said before, the bus rides are really fairly short. From the last stop in the resort (Springs), I timed an average of 12 minutes to MK and 8 minutes to EPCOT. The longest trip was to Animal Kingdom and that's because the bus stops at Blizzard Beach first. I believe the time was around 15-20 minutes.

Boardwalk area is nice, but really only if you plan to make EPCOT and MGM (DHS) your home bases. Trips to MK and AK are more a pain because the busses are shared among 5 resorts.

April at SSR should be exceptionally beautiful. I'll be there myself the last week. The flowers are all in bloom and baby animals are all over. Lots of bunnies in Congress Park and ducks and swans around the Springs and Paddocks. Get up and go for a morning stroll before it gets hot. You'll feel refreshed and relaxed. SSR is designed like a health spa. Lots of communing with nature to be had.
