Getting From Resort to Resort?

It’s a parking issue so I don’t know why they care about ride share drop offs.

The pickup/drop off areas are getting so busy they feel down right dangerous sometimes. I've seen more aggressive behavior by drivers trying to get through/get spots when things get busy. I actually appreciate they've been holding ride shares back, even though I would normally use one myself at times.

I think that at CR it was a safety issue as well. I remember reading of the long line of rideshare vehicles backed up on World Drive, waiting to turn into the CR parking lot and interfering with the resort buses trying to turn into the MK bus station, as well as passengers jumping out of the vehicles and running across the roadway in unsafe places.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I wonder if anyone has ever gotten on the walk-up list and they've let you in with that? Our problem with taking the skyliner is that it depends on the skyliner hopefully running, and we are hoping to get in for a walk-up breakfast at Topolino's for my birthday breakfast (those reservations are so hard to get!). We will also have my 11 month old like I mentioned, so loading up the car to be turned away is not a very appeasing option, even though it isn't too far from our hotel.

I just got back from a 14 day stay at POR Riverside; one week w daughter, one week alone, and we took Lyfts to various resorts for dinner almost every night. The driver always had to show their pass and a few times we were asked to show our resort IDs. Not always though. A few years ago the guards had a list of who had reservations at the restaurants but not anymore. As in previous comments it seems to be the 'whim' of that particular guard on duty. Some are more 'grouchy' than others. LOL!

We have been checked at security probably 9 out of 10 times we've used rideshares when staying at Riviera and have seen people at the gate being turned away. On our last trip, we saw pop-ups in the app when you try to mobile order breakfast at Primi Piatto that say that mobile ordering is restricted to guests staying at the Riviera Resort. Both of these things lead to me to conclude that they have had problems at Riviera with day guests coming in, eating quick service (making it harder for actual hotel guests to get breakfast) and then taking the skyliner to parks (again, crowding the skyliner and creating a longer line for the hotel guests who need it).

To the OP: this sounds like a stressful start to your birthday. First you have to worry about getting past the security guard. Then you have to worry about there being no walk-up availability at the restaurant (very possible). There are plenty of other restaurants that do not have such a high probability of disappointment. I love Topolinos too, but I think it's time to just acknowledge that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush and book a nice breakfast elsewhere. You can always set an alert to see if someone drops a reservation, and check again the night before when people are most likely to cancel.

I wanted to check out the Riviera for future vacation potential so I took the bus to MK from POR and waited for the bus to the Riviera and went in that way. As soon as I walked into the lobby I was approached by an 'attendant' and I told her that I wanted to take pictures of the resort and she said 'fine'. They DO know who walks in the door. They DO keep track of anyone who appears not to be a registered guest, but I just wanted to see the place (it is a little bit too 'fancy' for us, but a gorgeous resort) and get an idea of the architecture and the art (I am an artist so I am interested in this stuff). Note: When I got off the bus from POR there were no signs to indicate where the various resort busses were so I had to ask a security guy and he told me. He gave me the hairy eyeball but that was all. I am a late-middle age woman so I don't think that I appear to be any kind of a threat... but you never know. Security is everywhere at Disney though most people don't give it much thought. That's a good thing as far as I am concerned as I just want a safe, hassle-free vacation. That is what being in the Disney Bubble is all about.

This is the acceptable means of getting to a resort to look around, always has been. Disney has no issue with arrivals via Disney transportation.

If you felt regarded oddly for arriving that way, that was possibly your perception, with CMs merely wishing to determine if you needed information or help.
