Can you take an uber from resort to resort without a dining reservation? We're having trouble securing a reservation at Topolino's for a birthday breakfast, and I wanted to get on the walk-up list/get there right when it opens. However, it seems our only option is to hop the Skyliner is running at 7:30? From what I've seen, we can't get dropped off without a reservation at the resort. Thanks!

We do this all the time without a reservation - resort hopping is one of our favorite things. The only time we've ever had push back is at the Contemporary - they still let us in, but I think they're picky there because people get dropped off and walk to MK.

Have you done this at Riviera? My friend was turned down on her last trip.

Yep. We've stayed at Riviera several times and and take Ubers all over property. No one has ever asked us why we were there, questioned about reservations, etc. when we come back to get dropped off.

Interesting... I've heard a lot of different things concerning this. We will also have my 11 month old with us, and it would be a *giant* pain to load up an uber/car and get turned around. Disney's official policy seems cagey as well.

It's really annoying how inconsistent it is, that's for sure. At some resorts they didn't seem to care (ex. Wilderness Lodge, Port Orleans Riverside) but when I Ubered to Beach Club to have breakfast at Cape May Cafe the guard asked for my Magicband and ID to verify I had a reservation. I even saw a few cars have to turn around and leave, so I assume they didn't have an ADR.

We had a similar experience at MK area resorts and the Epcot ones last fall. Saw 3 or 4 cars told to u-turn out after what looked like a lively discussion.

Most gate guards asked to scan DH's MB and to see ID.

I suspect that we were there during FWF influenced being asked at RIV, YC and BWI.

You might be allowed in at times lacking a major event in a nearby park. Don't think I'd count on that, though. Annoying though it can be, taking Disney transportation is a sure thing.

Generally, you want to take Disney transportation if you're going to one of the MK/Epcot resorts, as they will turn most guests away without reservations. People report getting into the non-park resorts much more often, but it also doesn't seem to be guaranteed.

I would be prepared to be turned away if you do not have a resort or restaurant reservation. Whenever we take lyft to resorts for ADRs, we are interrogated at the security kiosks.

IME you'd be better off taking the skyliner or bus to Riviera vs an Uber but it all really comes down to luck and who is on duty.

I was told two weeks ago when we took Lyft to Beach Club in order to access IG entry, that we were fine because we were staying on property (they scanned - we were staying at POR)

We have always parked at resorts without a dining reservation and now it is a requirement. That being said I think it depends on who is checking. We were turned away from the GF and hopped over to the Poly and everything was fine. Depends on the day and the checker!

When we were there around Thanksgiving one day we took a taxi from CBR to Wilderness Lodge for breakfast at WCC and another day to YC for breakfast at Ale & Compass and we were surprised after hearing the stories that we were never questioned or had to show MBs the gate was raised at the guardhouse as soon as we pulled up to it.

Disney seems more strict on the parking requirements for resorts near one of the parks. They are wise to people trying to 'game' the parking fee by parking at a nearby resort for free. At places like Contemporary, I have seen multiple threads about the Uber/Lyft topic since they turn them away to avoid this huge traffic jam with drop-offs at various times. I would imagine it is less of an issue of who is at the gate compared to the time of day and how full they are. Someone is probably less likely to be trying to game the parking fee at 5 pm then early in the day when the parks first open.

Taking Disney transportation is probably the best way to get where you intend to go without being disappointed.

I get the impression that taxis are allowed in without question while rideshare is more likely to be asked what business the passengers have there. Maybe has to do with taxis being clearly marked as such whereas rideshare vehicles may or may not have anything showing that they’re not private cars? I don’t know if that’s true, I just wonder.

As others have said, I do believe certain resorts are stricter than others. The Contemporary/BLT has always been strict about who they let in (driving or Uber/Lyfting). But understandably, walking from the Contemporary is much easier to get to the MK. You do not have to take the monorail or boat, and the security line is normally very quick.

I could see Disney being stricter also at Boardwalk/Beach Club for the same reasons, while probably not as much of a concern at Wilderness Lodge.

We were in a clearly marked Mears van once and were given a pretty hard time.

Beach and Yacht, Boardwalk, Contemporary, Poly and GF. Those are the resorts where you will have trouble arriving in a personal car without a reservation.

It’s a parking issue so I don’t know why they care about ride share drop offs. It shouldn’t be too much trouble to figure out how to arrive via Disney transportation so that will always be the safest bet.
