Getting from pop century to parks with a scooter

Hello you lovely people.

My wife and I treated Grandpa to a Disneyland trip last year before covid. We also had our then 2 year old son. We stayed at the best western across the street from the parks, so getting to and from was very easy.

We are taking him with us again to Disney world. My sister in law will also be going. So total is 4 adults, 1 child. 1 scooter for grandpa will be rented, but a child seat will be needed for the baby.

That being said, we're a rope drop family. The new gondolas sound nice, but I hear it takes a long time to use them. 7 years ago was the last time I was at DW and the buses just didn't get us there early enough.

Our trip is the middle of November.

We are staying at the pop century.

What options do we have to preplan transportation that has room for a scooter and a child seat? I tried googling and all my results are about the Magical Express which obviously isn't what I need. All Ears . Net said there are options I can schedule early, but I'm as of yet unable to find it.

I've ubered before, but never with a car seat or scooter.

Thank you for your ideas, anecdotes, or solutions.

We stay at Pop often and for the past 10 years my mom (and now dad too) use scooters. Disney transportation works great for all of our transportation needs. If you want to rope drop the parks and leave sufficient time, your travel time will be similar to all other guests.

If you are set on using alternate transportation (no idea what to recommend there) there are a few things to know.

All vehicles (including Uber/Lyft) are being held with those driving until the parking lots open which is about an hour before park opening. It’s not uncommon for bus/Skyliner guests to be arriving a few minutes earlier than those driving.

Also, when you go to the Magic Kingdom using alternate transportation, you will be dropped off at the Ticket and Transportation Center and need to take the monorail or ferry from there to MK.

All this to say, you may do what you feel is best for your family but our experience of numerous trips is that Disney transportation with a scooter (or 2) works perfectly.

Also, if you wish to arrive in time for rope drop, it’s recommended for any kind of transportation that you leave Pop 90 mins before posted park opening time as all parks are opening 45 mins early.

Your best bet is Disney transportation. As pp mentioned there are reports of Disney transport dropping off guests at parks before parking lots open. If you want to avoid Disney transportation your best bet would be to rent a car. With a scooter and car seat renting a minivan or suv would be best.

The Skyliner has a separate entrance for scooters and if you only have one your entire party can ride on it. It really isn't that long a wait and now that they are loading more than one party on the non wheelchair loop the line will move even faster. With one scooter you should not have a problem getting your entire party on a bus either. A car seat isn't needed on either one. Honestly, Disney Transportation is the best transportation option when you have a scooter because you don't have to tear it down to get it in a vehicle, reassemble it when you get to a park or lift the thing in and out of a vehicle. I have my own and we transport it in the back of our mini van and even with removing the battery it isn't light weight.

Agree that using the bus or skyliner are your best options.
Even renting a vehicle may be difficult with the scooter due to transporting the scooter.

With a scooter, there is a separate entrance for the skyliner gondolas so the wait time is minimal. When it was me and my grandma, the only (what felt like a while) was waiting for the skyliner to take off and merge with the rest of the skyliners. As for buses just get there early and it shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't suggest renting a car. We rented a collapsible scooter and it was just a pain to pull apart and put it back together.

Since my husband and I both use scooters and had to be loaded onto separate gondolas we got to watch the system work. That long wait until you move into the regular line? It is based on a timer that starts when your door closes and is 90 seconds even though it feels like a lot longer!

As previously suggested, WDW transportation is your best option, this is one of the perks of staying at a WDW resort..

I don't think you would ever find an Uber with a car seat and big enough to put a scooter in the back. Very few Uber Family or Uber Car Seat cars exist anymore. Maybe a Minnie Van would work if they were running. I really think your best bet is WDW transportation. A bus to MK, AK, and the Skyliner to HS and EPCOT.
