We are flying into Orange County Airport (SNA) and are wondering the best way to get from there to the Disneyland Hotel. Any suggestions? We are not wanting to rent a car.

You have three options. Taxi, Shuttle or Disneyland Express bus.

I have only done the taxi, which I found most convenient (didn't have to wait for other guests to load or be dropped off prior to me). The cost was $35+tip.

We took a shuttle, and the guy was very nice but drove like a madman! We laugh about it now, but at the time :scared: :scared1::scared:

I should add... we had four adults and two children so we didnt have to share the shuttle. And, it only took about 3 1/2 minutes to get to the DLH.
:rotfl:

We are going from SNA to DLH in August... we decided to reserve an "exclusive" van from SuperSuttle... the cost was $67 each way. We have 5 people in our party (2 are 4 and will be in carseats) and we will not be sharing the van with anyone. I know this is more expensive than a taxi... but we know the van will be a good size and we will have plenty of room for us and our luggage (it sits 9)... there will be no additional stops...we were able to pre-pay... and we already have a scheduled pick up to take us back to SNA at the end of our trip. For us the convenience is worth the extra cost.

We are trying the DL Express bus this year, becuz we don't want to bring car seats again..just too much with luggage and kids.

Since you are staying at the DLH, the DL Express bus is a great way to go and car seats are not required.
The very first stop is at DLH so you don't have to wait thru everyone else's hotels and drop offs first.
We took Super Shuttle and paid way too much to be dropping off other people at 2 other stops taking almost an hour to get there. I was pissed.

I know many posts say a taxi is the more economical way to go but I would never put my kids in a taxi without car seats. I've seen the way taxi drivers drive around here..no way!

Had I known about the bus we would have done that last year.
We're staying at PPH this year, it's the 2nd stop but that's fine with me.

The link disneyscootergal posted has a link for a $3 off coupon per person.
This is my first time taking the DL Express too, I've read negative things elsewhere but it was mostly by people staying at off-site hotels. I think if you are taking the DLexpress to and from the airport and staying on Harbor Blvd. it's more of a headache.
Also, I've read that most of the video monitors on the buses don't work.
They are supposed to show Disney movies/cartoons during the ride, but I think having a bathroom on the bus is a big plus with a 4 yr old and 6 yr old.
I'll take the bathroom over the TV anyday.

teacups, I think you just described my brother!
Oh, except he doesn't work as a shuttle driver. He's just a CA native (as am I, but I left) who learned to drive in Miami, and now lives in San Diego!:upsidedow (I close my eyes when he's driving, I just can't take it)

We took a taxi in March and I believe that it was $35 each way. Make sure that you tell them you need the flat rate before you get into the cab. We got there at rush hour and boy that cab driver was a little wild but we made it ok. My husband was up front with the driver and said he kept swearing. Luckly he had such a heavy accent that the kids didn't understand it. We stayed at Hojo and when it came time to leave I went to the front desk and asked them to send for a cab and told them I needed the flat rate. The service that they go with charges a higher fee. Lucky for me I had recorded the cab company's phone number on my cell phone before we left home and was able to call for a cheaper cab myself.

My husband and I are flying into SNA this Friday for our DLR weekend :cheer2: and we decided to hire a taxi and have him stop at a grocery store to grab some bottled water, snacks and beer.

SallyJane, I would like to know the name of that cheaper cab company myself; would you mind posting it?

We've used a cab and the supershuttle. The cab was closer to $40 RT (inc tip) even when I asked for the flat rate. We made reservations and prepaid for the super shuttle on our last trip and it was great. It only took a few minutes for hte last person to get in and we were off. We stayed at the Desert Inn and were the first stop. They were right on time picking us up for our trip home too. Our driver waan't too bad in either direction.

Forgot to add that it was $10/person + tip each way.

This is the information that I got off of the airport transportation sited I called before I left to find out for sure what the flat rate was before I left home and I put the number in my cell phone incase I had to call myself. John Wayne Airport Yellow Cab Service (800) 535-2211
(714) 535-0156

You will receive a voucher from Disneyland Express (if you booked thru Disney.) YOu just bring the voucher down when you meet the shuttle, and the fare is $10 each way. So, $20 rt. I just spoke to a CM about this last week when we booked our vacation, because my mom flies into SNA.

We just had our first family meeting about our upcoming vacation and we decided to use SuperShuttle to get from John Wayne Airport to BWPPI (and vica-versa) as well. We have already made reservations for them to pick us up here at the house and take us to SeaTac then take us back home after our trip. We have used them several times before and have always found them to be very reliable and punctual. :)

BWPPI has a car rental office in the lobby so I called and reserved an 8 passenger Sienna through them for the 2 days that we will need a car for Knott's and Universal. (there are 8 of us going) DH is a little concerned because he hates feeling stranded, but why rent a car for 7 days when we only need one for 2? I suggested that if we really needed a car for something, we can rent one for another day. It ended up saving us quite a bit of money including gas and parking for the extra vehicle. (we were going to rent 2 cars)

Now....I just have to figure out how to do the "Albertson's Delivery" thing, and we're all set.

Now isn't that $20 per person roundtrip? So if you have 4 people or more you actually save money with a taxi and it takes you right to your hotel unlike a shuttle that stops at other resorts.

I didn't think about that, but it probably is per person. I was only calling on an individual, so I never asked. You're right though, a taxi would most likely be less expensive.
