Getting "Fleeced" On Rental Cars

Okay, it's my own fault.

I booked a very last minute trip to Disney World over Easter (thank you Southwest DING last night!!). I am probably going to be off-site and I must have a rental car. I've got 5 people and I can't get an intermediate for under $430.00!!! I've NEVER paid that much for a car.

Been to Mousesavers already and have been putting in codes like crazy but NO deals.

So, if you can think of any tips to help me, I'd appreciate it. I don't know what to do about this.

That stinks! I know there is usually a link for "last minute deals" on most of the car rental websites. Maybe closer to the date will come up with something. Does your hotel offer bus service to the parks? You could use a town car service to get to the hotel.

It's called supply and demand! your lucky you are even finding availability. I would be extremely surprised if you find any specials in Florida over Easter. Think about it Disney is full at full price.

I know! The rental rates are crazy March 30th on. Check out Budget with the mousesaver code noted in red. I was just able to get an intermediate at $159. Good luck! If you have no luck with the rental company web-sites, try plugging in your dates with expedia, etc.

Oh, I know I'm not going to get a great deal. I was just hoping for *something* that might make it a little less hard to swallow.

Have you tried the dollar KISS2 or KISSE code yet? Or what about the thrifty magicard code (found on mousesavers). I have tried MANY codes for later this year and these codes are giving me the best rates.

Good luck

I just went through Costco and, so far, this seems to be the best rate. None of the other discounts are working. I'm sure they are blacked out for Easter.

Anyway, I saved about $75 using Costco and got a Trailblazer for 5 days for a total of $392.16 (taxes and everything). All other rates were starting at $450.00:scared1:

You can keep trying, but be sure to snag the lowest price right when you see them. They can vanish in a second! Most of the codes on Mary's site won't work for our Easter dates, either, and we've been trying for over 9 months!

Keep trying, though...you never know!:goodvibes

No, there are no on-site hotels available.

I would keep checking everyday, maybe multiple times a day. There's always cancellations. Staying onsite would definitely be a plus with DME. Especially at a busy time like Easter. I can't imagine what the traffic will be like into and out of the park. :headache:

Just a thought. :)

Well you never know Christine, the code is for anone. I just saw it in a guidebook for Orlando. I used the code online to make the saving. Interestingly when I rang Alamo direct they had never heard of the code and quoted me double the price!

Have you tried rentalcarmomma.com? I always get GREAT rates on Florida rental form that site with Thirfty as the vendor. Good luck!
