TO say that I am getting excited for our Annual LONG trip to Walt Disney World is an understatement.

I think I get just as excited as my 6 year old daughter and I'm a crusty old Infantryman here.

To introduce myself I work in Afghanistan as a civilian with the US Army so my trips home mean a lot to me as I do not get to spend much time with my family. I am also a soldier in the US army Reserve who has quite a few tours under his belt.

This vacation started as planned as our usual April - May trip as it is usually near or on our daughters Birthday. After booking the trip initially with our Disney Vacation Expert Lisa at Mouseketrips at the Beach Club Villas I had to change it to February due to work scheduling. Disney and Lisa were AWESOME at re-booking everything and helping to get us all fixed up without charging us extra we even saved quite a bit of money as a result.

So instead of staying at the Beach Club we will be at Saratoga Springs. We have stayed there before and don't mind at all we really enjoy it. The location and layout of the resort makes for nice strolls at night enjoying the quiet and views of the boardwalk and great morning jogs. Our daughter (the Princess) really enjoys the Paddock pool / playground and my wife (the Queen) loves the rooms and the architectural style not toand being the animal lover that she is she enjoys seeing the rabbits, birds, turtles, and fish in the ponds.

We will be buying into the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) as soon as I have set aside enough money to pay cash for the membership with Saratoga most likely being our home resort. We have become spoiled staying at the Deluxe Villas the past few trips and the savings over time the DVC membership offers is well worth it for us.

We normally do not make advance reservations for dinner and such because we normally do not know what the Princess will want to do. We pretty much leave the trip up to her when we go. When asked what she wants to do for the day she says "Daddy what are my options" The only real mandate is "Daddy can I go play in the pool at the hotel" every day after lunch and before dinner. Her comments always sound cuter in her own voice.

Usually we wait until we get to the resort and all checked in and settled into the room before we make any plans. we usually plan our park visits based around the Late extra magic hours as we like to sleep in. Well the Queen and the Princess usually sleep in while I get an early morning workout or run in.

Who said that a Walt Disney World vacation has to be full speed ahead all the time. The long trip allows us to relax and hit up all of the things wed like to do at our own pace.

The only thing we haven't found is Swimming Lessons at Walt Disney World. If we found that we would definitely plan for those.

I bought Traditional Bavarian German outfits for all of us to wear to the Biergarten. We usually make it a point to eat there every trip. This trip we are going to get all dressed up for our dinner. We were unable to enjoy Oktoberfest in our outfits last year the queen wasn't feeling very well when we wen't drindl shopping. Good thing the Queen pointed out a few that she liked and even tried one on then. Unfortunately there was nothing for the Princess. I hope what I ordered fits my two ladies. I know the Queen likes the drindl I ordered for her (She is very Particular when it comes to these types of things). The princesses drindl is a surprise from Daddy I picked one out that is as pink as I could find.

Being from the Atlanta area we always drive to Walt Disney World. Though we do not use our car much while we are there it is nice to know we have it for the odd excursion to Walmart or the Disney Outlet Store. A trip that is a MUST for every Walt Disney World vacationer.

We usually leave after the Queen gets off work the Friday and start our drive between 6 and 7 pm. That puts us in Kissimmee at around 1 am. The night prior we always stay at the Holiday Inn for some much needed rest prior to the vacation officially starting. Wake up with coffee and using the Walt Disney World Online Check-in taking our time packing up and heading out for our resort. When we arrive our room has always been ready for us usually at about 10 - 11 am.

My travel will consist of several long flights but Mickey Mouse will keep me company along the trip. My Daughter sent me a Mickey Mouse wearing a Falcons Jersey and Falcons throw. She said "Daddy now we both have Mickey Plushes".

I will do my best to keep you all up dated on our trip if you are interested. Just under two weeks till Check in.
