Getting DD excited for Disney

I am trying to start getting my DD 2y.o. excited for Disney-- our trip is next Jan. She loves Nemo and Pooh already, but now I am working on the "Princesses" since she is a VERY girly girl. We have watched parts of The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast, and we read books about the princess characters... what else can I do?

Well, you've got almost a full year, so I wouldn't try to get her tooooo excited, or you'll never hear the end of it!!! But, I think books are a good way to start, since a lot of the movies are pretty intense.

Does she like to play dress-up? That can be a fun activity that you can tie-in to the characters, tho it can be harder to find small sizes of the princess dresses.

Does she watch any Playhouse Disney shows? Some of them are more age appropriate than most of the full-length movies, and will introduce her to some more characters. My dd (3.75) especially likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Little Einsteins, tho she actually didn't start watching MMC until *after* our WDW trip!

She hasn't watched playhouse Disney yet... might be a good idea though. The books are at least helping her recognize the characters though-- I found a super cute 4 book set of Princess stories at TRU for $10. So we read those stories pretty much every day.

And she doesn't actually know about the trip yet, per se... though she was the decider of Poly Vs GF-- "Pol-esian, Mommy." Gotta love kids!

Rather than the movies themselves, hunt down some of the "Sing Along Song" video/DVDs. They are a lot more toddler friendly and your DD will love to sing and dance to them. It will happen--we took DD in Dec. when she was 2.5 and she knew every word to Princess Aurora's songs! Even if she doesn't see the movies, there is Disney stuff EVERYWHERE. Just mentioning the names (See honey, that fish is named Nemo) will get her a good introduction!
