Anyone else do this? I'm about to turn the big 5-0 :scared: and at this stage I don't think bigger chesticles will do much for me but a prettier smile might. :teeth:

I'm thinking seriously about getting braces. I've never been happy with my smile. My teeth aren't in too bad of shape but I'm self-consious about the way they look. I've got an appointment with the Orthodontist next week to see what can be done. My dentist thought this might be a better option for me than having a cosmetic procedure done on the teeth.

Anyone else?

I was 25 when I got my braces. Not exactly "late" in life, but was "latER."

Was one of the best things I did for myself. Never regretted it. Now I have a beautiful smile.

I got braces when I was 30 and got them off last April at 31. It was the best thing I ever did! I didn't realize how much I disliked my smile until after I got my braces off and for the first time in my life, I had STRAIGHT teeth.

I wore mine for about 18 months. I had an overbite and I was probably going to have to have gum surgery on my bottom teeth because my teeth were so crooked it was causing my gums to recede.

I say go for it!

I have braces now at 33 for the second time. (I had them when I was 12-13.) They are painful and costly, but I think all the pain and money will be worth it! Go for it! I have seen great results for adults and can't wait to see my finished product!

I am 32 and considering getting them for the second time. I didnt wear my retainers long enough the first time. I would go ahead and go for it.

Oh yeah, that would be my firmest advice: WEAR YOUR RETAINER. It's been 10 years and I still wear mine faithfully every evening.

I had my braces put on the week before Christmas, and I will be 42 in 3 weeks. I say if you can afford it and will keep up w/ the flossing/cleaning/etc, go for it!

I'm 40, and I am doing braces for the second time, too. I only needed some minor correction, so my orthodontist did Invisalign. I just picked up my last set yesterday, and man do my teeth hurt!! I can't even bite down. It will be worth it when I'm done because I'll be able to floss my bottom teeth again. They've been too tight for the last few years.

My 48 year old husband got them on in january. Had a pretty tough time the first two weeks eating...I think the Dr is fast tracking him since he is an adult...even gave him Tylenol with codeine.

he also had them as a child and chose not to wear his retainers.

I got mine on when I was 25, but the day I got mine on, there was a lady getting hers off who was 67 years old. I say go for it, I don't regret it at all!

I have braces now and I am 29. I say go for it! I get mine off next Jan, and I just can't wait to see my smile!

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! Becky - great site! :thumbsup2

I may have to do this. I guess I'll have to get used to being called metal mouth for a while. :rotfl2:
