We will be staying at POR in June. We have 4 children so afternoon breaks in the summer will be a must.

We are driving to Disney so we will have the van to use.

Which is easier, better, etc.?

- Drive to the parks in the morning, use the buses to transport the family back to POR and then back to the park again. Then drive back to the resort at closing.

or

- Drive all the time. But when you go back to the parks in the afternoon wouldn't you end up way out in the lot? So you would need to use the tram then and at closing?

personally, I would take the busses both ways....just easier to me.

My concern about taking the busses both ways is dealing with the stroller the whole time and then the waiting for a bus at closing with 4 kids.

How old are your children? We found with small kids that taking the bus sometimes caused enough stimulation that they had problems going down for a nap in the room.

Driving works best for us. You do run the risk of having the little ones fall asleep in the car, however, which might also impact their ability to get to sleep again in the room. (Don't you love it when a 10 minute nap in the car somehow invigorates them enough that they have no desire for further napping that day, yet they still fall apart later? :headache: ) If they do fall asleep in the car, we will sometimes run errands and let them nap in the car instead of heading back to the resort.

We often find we get *better* parking when we drive back late afternoon after naps.

We are staying on-site in June at PopCentury. Our plan as of today is to drive to each park, except MK, and if we are going to return to the same park later, take the bus back to PC for afternoon break. We do tend to park hop so I'm not sure how that would fit in.

I don't think there's any hard and fast rule for this. Sometimes it's better to use the buses, and other times it is better to drive. I always prefer the buses to MK. Otherwise, you will have to wait for a monorail or ferry to the TTC and then for a tram to the parking lot. At MGM, we've always been able to walk to our car...even over this past holiday weekend. At the other parks, your choice is waiting for a bus or taking a tram to your car. Keep in mind that the trams generally don't run all the way to the end of EMH. This isn't an issue if you're parked close enough to walk.

When we stay at WL, our one exception to driving is MK. We generally will take the boat -- preferably the bigger one so we don't have to fold up the double stroller.

With twin 5 year olds and a 2 year old, I drove to Epcot and MGM and took the bus to MK and AK (we had early PS at AK so the bus was a must). Both were equally easy. On the day we went to MGM, DH took the kids out of the park for a nap in the air conditioned car while I continued to tour the park by myself. The rest of the days we left the parks early and went back to the hotel for a nap. We stayed onsite and really didn't need the car after all. The bus transportation was just fine, stroller and all. We did not stay til park close most nights...actually we only saw fireworks once, and then we were on the first bus out of there so we didn't have to wait for one.

We always take Disney transportation and take an afternoon break. Of course, we usually end up staying in the pool and never making it back to the park!

The tricky part is getting them to keep awake until you get back to the hotel. We prefer the buses though. Just easier not to have to cope with parking, especially more than once a day.
