Getting back to CSR after Illuminations cruise?

I am trying to figure out the best way to do this. We will be spending the day at Epcot, finishing off with the Illuminations cruise. What would be the best way to get back to CSR from the Boardwalk area? It doesn't seem like the bus service is very direct. We will have a car available, but I wouldn't be able to get back to the car if I park at the main Epcot entrance. I guess I could park at MGM, and we could walk or boat there after Illuminations. I seem to recall that there is no all-day parking at the Boardwalk. Anyone have an opinion on the best way to arrange transportation?

Why wouldn't you be able to get to the front of Epcot? That would be the best thing to do.

THe first time we did an Illuminations cruise we couldn't get back through Epcot. We had to take a bus from YC to TTC and then walk back to the Poly. It has been several years and all I can remember is that it took us a long time. That Illuminations Cruise was worth it though :Pinkbounc

Since the cruise ends at the YC marina at about 9:30, I think you are correct that you would not be allowed at that time to reneter Epcot in order to walk to the front entrance for a bus.

I was going to suggest parking at the Boardwalk. However, I am not sure about the issue you raise of no all day parking. Could someone from your party go back to your resort sometime during the day (say, just before dinner) to get the car and bring it to the Boardwalk at that time? I would imagine that would only take a 1/2 hour or so and then you would not be violating the "all day" rule.

We took a cab back to the POFQ when we did the Illuminations cruise. The CSR is pretty close to the Yacht Club, and it should only cost you about $5 or $6 including tip. It's worth the money to save time and aggrevation in my opinion :)

Have a great time! The Illuminations cruise is a lot of fun!

We faced this same dilemma in 2001 - we went to the Boardwalk, and took a bus to DTD, and then a bus from there back to the All-Stars -- took us 90 minutes! That was the only bad bus experience we had on that trip, all other waits were under 10 minutes.

My recommendation is to take a cab from either the Yacht/Beach Club or the Boardwalk.

1. drive if you have a car
2. cab
3. depending if MGM is open, go to MGM and take a CSR bus
4. bus to DtD then to CSR
