For Christmas Day, I'm planning a light day and trying to avoid MK like the plague. Plans are to sleep in ( I use the term loosely as after 5 days of rope drops, sleeping til 8 will feel like it), have a breakfast ressie at 10:15 at Whispering Canyon then take the boat to a monorail resort and tour the resorts on that loop for a while then catch the monorail to epcot and check out the story tellers and have dinner. The thing I keep turning over in my brain is the logistics of how best to get from our resort (CSR) to WL for breakfast. Getting there in the past we've just taken the bus to MK and then caught the boat. But being that this is christmas morning going through MK, I'm concerned may prove problematic. Can anyone think of a better way? Or should I be ok provided I leave enough travel time? TIA!

is it possible to take the bus to animal kingdom and then get to wilderness lodge from there? I would think AK would be less crowds than MK on Christmas?:wizard:

I would take a cab to WL so you don't have to worry about allowing enough time. As for going to Epcot in the afternoon, are there any concerns about park capacity? I've never been on Christmas but did go on July 4th one year and were advised to pick a park and stay since they could potentially reach capacity and refuse entrance. Hopefully someone else can chime in that has been during this time.

That's not a bad idea. Would the buses be regularly running back to the resorts from parks at that time or would it be up to chance that a Wilderness Lodge one would come soon?

WE booked with a reputable TA and she suggested to avoid MK on Christmas Day unless I was extremely sentimental about spending Christmas Day at MK. So, it is an AK day for us and in planning this trip for the last 6 months, I have used this website to help me figure out transportation since I do not have any prior Disney experience to speak of. http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/aspx/twiz.aspx#.VIOngsk1g4c

Our aim is to finish at AK by around 4:30pm and then do a tour of the hotels along the monorail route to see all the Christmas decorations (supposedly the Grand Floridian is expecially "grand") :hyper: and after the various stops, head to Ohana at the Polynesian for our Christmas dinner and see the fireworks and water pageant from their beach. Hope my idea and yours work out. ::yes::

A much better source for getting around is the DIS Transportation Board. The site cited above can take users way out of the way, or worse.

We were in WDW last Christmas and were in MK Christmas morning. We absolutely loved being on Main Street Christmas morning. We arrived a few minutes after rope drop and had a fantastic morning. We walked up a very uncrowded Main Street, stopping to take pictures and to watch the street performers singing carols. Ride wait times were short and we got a picture with Stitch with no wait. I would not recommend staying much past lunchtime, but we found the morning not crowded at all. After lunch, we hopped to another park then in the evening we watched The Santa Clause on the beach at Beach Club.

I would assume yes, the buses have to run back to the resorts to pick up more people that want to get to the parks.

But I say spring for the cab since you are now having to wait for two buses.

I know if you go the MK route you still have to take a bus and a boat, but they have to run the boats in a loop back to the WL so you know they will be there.

The bus that just dropped off guests from the WL at AK may not go back to the WL if they need more pickups at another resort.

OP this is exactly what we did on a trip the week before Xmas last year. Just a note, we spent much less time than we thought we would touring the Monorail resorts.
