My wife and I want to spend 2 or 3 nights in a Disney resort...wanted the Poly, but the room price was over $ 500 per night. And this is a slow time...Nov. 1, 2 and maybe 3.

Any suggestions for a Disney Non-Value Resort for a decent price? I'd even like Old Key West or something like that.

Thanks !! (And I will be buying an AP in the next few months, so that would get me a discount...)

Not sure what qualifies as a decent price, but even rack rates at a moderate are far less than $500 a night. When discounts come out, you should also be able to find a deluxe without a problem for under $500. The Poly does tend to be very expensive. If you want to stay there for a "reasonable" price, I'd recommend renting DVC points but the catch there is you need to be prepared to book 11 months out (which has already passed for November) and you cannot cancel. Renting points can get you a studio at the Poly for under $300/night. If you're happy at OKW, that may still be a possibility to rent as it is less popular. SSR is also a lovely resort and is easier to come by compared to others. Still, early November is DVC high season so if you're interested in taking that route I'd act sooner than later. Otherwise, if you go through Disney I would expect the cheapest deluxes to start around $375 and the moderates to be around $215/night.

Once you get your AP you can get AP rate. Poly is going to be most expensive, for some reason you can get rooms at the grand cheaper than poly. But I just got AP rate for wilderness lodge in May under AP for only $242., if you want contemp that was about $340, GF was $450 and poly was about that. Animal kingdom was about the same as WL $250. Board walk was about $300, beach and hatch was about $400. Saratoga and old key west was about $250. So if you want cheapest deluxe AK and WL which I think $240 is a decent price for a deluxe and I love wilderness lodge. Oh don't remember all but AKV and BRV were about $350.

You actually can get the AP rate now, you just have to have it by the time you arrive. The thing to do is call and ask for prices for your dates on the ap rate, then wait to see if they come out with further discounts as it gets closer.

I've paid very close to that for mods than what DG25 got for Deluxe!
I'd take 242 in a heartbeat...
didn't renew AP, and not sure we re headed back anytime soon ( tho I'm itching to go)

Bear in mind both AP rates and general public discounts are not released yet for November. You can look up historical release dates on Mousesavers.

IDK if this is any indication, but the BB offer had no discounts this year from Sept 30 - Dec 8. Perhaps that is standard, but it seems to me that there used to be some BB in November. I would book something that is available at a rack rate that you consider a fair price now and upgrade later when/if discounts become available for your dates.

Some rooms at a decent price (IMO):
You can get the AKL now for $377 or WL for $379 per night standard view starting on Nov 2 and going till the 10th.
POFQ is $211 per night for the same nights, again standard view. The Swan has availability from Nov 7-17 at a rate of $341 ($412 taxes resort fee in) for a standard room.

Out of all these, I like the AKL best. WL would be a contender but is undergoing construction at the moment. If you like the Epcot area and your dates are flexible, the Swan is good choice (although not really a disney resort). POFQ is moderate that many people enjoy due to its small size and single bus stop. Plus you have a boat to DS and can walk to POR and use all of their facilities (including pools). The price is certainly good at only $211 per night.

Hopefully, later on this year some good discounts will open up for early/mid Nov. I will certainly be looking for one. Meantime I have a booking at POR - just in case there are no discounts available this Nov...

Good luck!

ETA: you can book AP rates via the telephone before you buy the actual AP. You should have your AP or voucher by the time you check in. They may or may not ask to see it. If they do, and all you have is the voucher, they will give you time to get it activated and bring back to show them (usually 24 hours, I believe).
