Getting a FP, then getting back in line...

Okay, I haven't been to WDW since FP (yes, it's been a while!) If my family (that would be 6 people this time around, excluding me) get in line for a ride, and I run to a nearby or somewhat nearby attraction to get FPs for my group, when I return, do people look at you funny as you try to get up in the line to where your group is (in front of them)? What if my group gets to the front of a ride or char. greeting before I get back? Can they let other people ahead of them until I get back and regain my spot with them, so that I won't miss anything? :confused3 I hope this makes sense!

Well-- you'll find from reading these boards that *most* adults aren't particularly tolerant or delighted when other adults do this. Yes, you will see groups of adults split up for various reasons (like getting FPs, etc.) and then jostling their way through the entire line to meet up with their group. It's annoying, but not illegal....

A MUCH better option, however, is for ALL of you to go over to the FP machines together, have each person get his/own own FP, and then proceed to the line together. You won't miss out on saving yourselves more that a couple of minutes, but you'll be showing good manners and will be a sterling example to others who wonder how to handle this.

Cheers!

every line seems to always have someone trying to catch up to their family. just say that as you walk ahead-no one seems to really mind. unless of course there is more than 1 person doing this

If they are only a little bit ahead I say ok but if they are way far ahead I would be annoyed and feel they should have waited for you not expect people to accomadate you, especially if you arrive with FP's. I mean wouldn't we all like to do that. A kid to the BR is one thing even an adult if you are standing there and wow I need to go I would understand but just to avoid lines I don't think it is the thing to do.

what a dilemma....it's not that bad getting a fp and getting in line, i've never had a problem cathcing up to my family while they were still in near the back of the line. I'd think the closer your group was to the front, the more annoyed even disney ppl would get.

Maybe a good plan would be for my family to go ahead to the attraction and just wait for me by the entrance (or near the end of the line) until I get back from getting FPs and then we can all enter the line together. I don't want to become an annoyance to anyone, and I really don't want to make my young ones or older parents walk to a FP machine with me just to get their FP, esp. if it's not really that closeby. By myself, I can move a lot quicker! Thanks for the input! :wave2:

That's what we do one runs for the FP the other group heads to the ride and if a BR stop is needed etc or just 'cause the kids look at something on the way the FP person often beats us to the ride and is waiting there for us and we get in line with our FP's for the next ride we want to do.

I'm sorry -- when I read your original post, I didn't realize that you were travelling with little ones and seniors! But, yes, as other wise ones have suggested, if you do the "running" and your group waits for you near the entrance of the ride, it should all work out!

A tip in case you aren't aware: FP's will give you a range of times you can enter ride -- say "10:30 to 11:15" or some such. You cannot enter the FP return line EARLY, but you can always use a FP LATER on the day it was issued. So, if you miss your 11:15 "cut-off" time, you can still use that FP at 12:00. You just can't use it the next day. Have a great trip!
