Getting a discount on Dues this year....

Thank you for all the great information. Have you always been able to use the DVA to pay Dues? For some reason I did not think that it was an option.

I think DVC dues is actually against the written DVA guidelines... But if you tell MS that you would like to pay with a gift card, and give the DVA number, it processed OK.
It is possible that DVA loophole is systematically closed at some point in the future, so you have to be prepared to have enough "legit" DVA expenses as a backup plan.

Just signed up for a Southwest Chase Visa card to pay our DVC dues . They are running the 50,000 air points on new accounts now (sometimes its only 25,000) .

It has been loosely figured that 50,000 points are worth approx $1000 - $1200. of Southwest airfare . How far you stretch those points is up to you . We generally go for the lowest cost, wanna get away - non stop fares . 50,000 points should get us a few round trips at least .

The catch ............Annual fee for the card is $95 , but the $95. fee gets you 6000 points every year .
Also, you must spend $2000. on the card within 3 months of opening the card account to get the 50,000 point bonus.
There are a lot of DVC owners that have MF's in excess of $2000. , so if you are looking for some free flights ..........dont wait too long to apply . MF's are due soon !

Rapid Rewards have a fixed redemption value of 1.42¢. Well, they did introduce some variable pricing this year, but it's still largely in the same area. So 50,000 points are worth about $700.

Immediately after placing your order, you can place another. The limit is per order not per day.

Whenever i try to do that, all my orders get cancelled, except the first one :-(. Has anyone figured out what the timeframe between orders should be, to not have them cancelled automatically?

I was not aware that you could pay your dues with Disney Gift Cards. Is there a limit to how many gift cards you can use? For example could I use 20 different gift cards to pay off my dues in one transaction?

Speaking of misinformation; ebay offered $15 off a $200 card, which is 7.5%, not 15%.

7.5% off ($15 off $200) + 1% Ebates + 2% eBay Bucks + 5% Red Card discount (when redeemed online) = 15.5%

And, to be technically accurate, the number on a gift card is an account number, not the other way around. DVA cannot be used at all the places a gift card is accepted since some places require a physical card, and some require the access code from behind the scratch off panel, neither of which you'll get with a DVA.

The account number is a valid gift card number, which can be used anywhere gift cards are accepted online as I qualified -- with exception where a PIN is needed to your point.

And some additional misinformation, you do not earn the $20 gift card from day one. You only earn the $20 gift cards for purchases that occur after the account has been open for 120 days. When DVA began, it was as you describe, but the terms changed a good nine months ago, at least. Purchases made in the first 120 days do not count towards the bonus.

Your Disney Vacation Account must be active for a minimum of 120 days at the time of spending in order to receive this bonus.

Target 10% off gift cards today only. Apparently you can use gift cards to buy gift cards as of an hour ago... Stacking!!

Yeah, its an order of operations problem in how the Target ecommerce website is coded. (Not using a Target gift card to buy a gift card, you can do that - its getting the Redcard discount on top when using a gift card - that won't work in a store (loophole closed about a year ago) but still works online. Don't expect it to last forever, its known and on their backlog list (if it didn't get put into a post Christmas release - Target freezes changes in October and reopens in early January, IIRC).

You're wrong; though it depends on the store. Target, Sears, K-Mart, Toys-R-Us, and Gamestop all allow you to buy gift cards with their own gift cards. Staples system allows it, although their employees are trained to tell you it's not allowed.

And those are just the ones I know about.

From what I understand, Disney gift cards are classified as an entertainment card, not a classic gift card. Who know if this wiil end.

In the meantime, I'm stocking up for next year just in case.

Target's terms allow the purchase of gift cards with gift cards. There are a few other stores that allow it, too, but not very many.

The "entertainment card" categorization doesn't mean anything. Target coupons that exclude "gift cards" do, in fact, exclude all gift cards, even those classified as "entertainment" cards.
