Getting a discount on Dues this year....

is there a limit to amount of gift cards for disney? looks like 4 of the 50's and 3 of the 100's. how long do I have to wait to get more?

Immediately after placing your order, you can place another. The limit is per order not per day.

????..........34%-40%........$1,000 in disney gift cards costs me $600 - $660.

No other purchases included and no end of year cash card. The credit card portion of my total discount is 6%. If I added eBay to my strategy I could add another 5%-7% savings depending on 4-5 times eBay bucks and shipping fees, but it's too inconsistent in when they have their offers. I could also add 2% for eBates or another portal, but they are also inconsistent on making the payments.

This math doesn't work for me. Assuming you get 10% off at raise, your 6% CC and 5% redcard and 2% from ebates or wherever. That is only 21%. Where are you getting the other 15 to 20%?

And please tell, we would all like to know how to get the same discounts.

You mentioned eBay. Why on eBay goes Disney gift cards always go for more than face value? Can you help me understand the logic?

How do you get a Disney vacation account? Are you guaranteed 2% back for all cards that you load?

No krogers here but the 2% back would be nice. Can you explain what a Disney vacation account is and how to open one up?

For every $1000 you put into the account, after you have the account for a certain period of time, you get a $20 giftcard. aka 2%.

Closest Kroger store is 470 miles away.

Do you have a different grocery store that offers fuel rewards? Safeway usually does 2x points on gift cards, and someone mentioned a store that doesn't limit redemption, maybe Giant Eagle? It might cut into the cumulative discounts, but there's a way to work it if you're willing to do the work.

You're wrong; though it depends on the store. Target, Sears, K-Mart, Toys-R-Us, and Gamestop all allow you to buy gift cards with their own gift cards. Staples system allows it, although their employees are trained to tell you it's not allowed.

And those are just the ones I know about.

Not Toys R Us anymore

Their system still allows transactions under $100, at least last time I checked. I'm not sure of their stated policy or training.

Rumor has it that Sears and K-Mart updated their systems last week to prevent buying gift cards with their gift cards.

When did you Try at Toys R Us last? System was updated about 60 days ago. I assume it was a national update.

Nope
The over priced Stop & Shop will give you .10 off per gallon for every $100 you spend. But their prices are about 40% more than Market Basket.
No other grocery store has gas stations

They are offering 2x rewards on Amex gift cards. I'm not sure how much the purchase fee is; but it could be worthwhile.

For someone planning to use a DVA account, that seems to be an odd extra statement. Kinda obvious, yes? You put money in to use it, yes? Are there people putting money in it just for fun and not using it?

Prior to the ability to combine gift cards, people would load gift cards into a DVA and then request a larger gift card back out to use while on site. The gift card is treated as a refund, not a purchase.

But, to further clarify, you receive a $20 gift card for every $1,000 spent after the account has been open for 120 days.

Wow, a lot of misinformation on this thread. Also, this thread missed the boat on the 15% discount the last week on $25 gift cards at Target - $5 gift card with 2x$25 Disney GCs in store ($5/$50 = 10%) + 5% Red Card discount (good on gift cards other than Target GCs). Also, there is another promo on 12/20 that Target is running for 10% off Target GCs in store up to $300 (per transaction) -- which you can combine with 2% reward credit card to purchase the GC and 5% Red Card discount online to redeem the GC to get 17% Disney Gift Cards online.
12% is small potatoes.

After Xmas, you will easily get 10% discount on Raise for Target GCs and pay for with your 2% cash back CC. Also get 1% back from ebates/swagbucks. Use target GCs to purchase Disney GCs for 5% discount if you have a Redcard. And sometimes if you get lucky, you can get 2% from ebates when you purchase at Target.

That is 17-19%
In recent months Target GC discounts have been averaging 3% -- no where near 10% for a variety of reasons: a) the secret is out, b) holiday spending online, and c) with dues being due Jan 31 and this being a common practice for buying discounted Disney GCs, I don't see this getting any better after the holidays.
I work in big box retail part time and you can not use a gift card to buy a gift card its just not allowed.
Others have already stated, but Target does allow this, and online you can even combine with 5% Target Red Card discount, even if paying in full with GC
You mentioned eBay. Why on eBay goes Disney gift cards always go for more than face value? Can you help me understand the logic?
eBay had 15% off $200 Target GC on Black Friday week. Otherwise, you are correct -- they always go over value which boggles my mind--esp. for a physical card.

DVA is in form of rebate, and is not guaranteed -- according to terms DVC fees are not eligible for rebate although historically have been (no one knows for this year).

Just to clarify, the DVA account # itself is a gift card number -- so can be used directly anywhere gift cards are accepted online or over the phone without requesting a gift card (e.g. DVC - which historically has counted as eligible purchases). Also, you earn $20 for every $1000 of eligible purchases from day 1 -- you just can't redeem the redemption bonus until 180 days.

Speaking of misinformation; ebay offered $15 off a $200 card, which is 7.5%, not 15%.

And, to be technically accurate, the number on a gift card is an account number, not the other way around. DVA cannot be used at all the places a gift card is accepted since some places require a physical card, and some require the access code from behind the scratch off panel, neither of which you'll get with a DVA.

And some additional misinformation, you do not earn the $20 gift card from day one. You only earn the $20 gift cards for purchases that occur after the account has been open for 120 days. When DVA began, it was as you describe, but the terms changed a good nine months ago, at least. Purchases made in the first 120 days do not count towards the bonus.

Thank you for all the great information. Have you always been able to use the DVA to pay Dues? For some reason I did not think that it was an option.
