Hi all,

We are visiting DL for the first time this year and I would like to ask all you knowledgable people, is there a location in Downtown Disney to get a DAS pass for our daughter.

I am looking to try and get that sorted out the night before entering one of the parks for the first time.

Many thanks in advance for any help with this.

Have a magical day one and all.

Unfortunately you need to enter a park first then go to the appropriate place to explain why you need the pass before it can be issued.

You do have to be inside one of the Parks to receive a DAS pass. I understand not wanting to use up those first precious experiences. If you are looking at doing MaxPass, I would do that right when you enter the Park and get your first FP lined up. I would then, if you are in Disneyland first, go up Main Street and hit the kiosks at the information booth by Jolly Holiday. Then you can experience the joy of Main Street, USA and being in the Park the first time.

Another thing to keep in mind is that City Hall/Chamber of Commerce will open when they open the turnstiles. That means you can beeline there and then go for rope drop.

Have a great trip!

I’ve gone twice with a family member that needed a DAS pass. Both times we lined up an hour before park opening. They start letting you in about 30 minutes before opening. We headed straight to City Hall (no lines that early) and applied for the pass. Then headed down to rope drop. Allowed us to get the pass, but not waste park time.

Currently, you can apply for a DAS or a renewal at City Hall (DL), Chamber of Commerce (DCA), or at the Information Kiosks in either park. But be prepared that CMs at the Information Kiosks could send you back to CH or CoC -- this can happen because of wifi problems at the Kiosks. So if you are at the gates before park opening anyway and there are no lines at CH or CoC, that would be an easy way to apply for your DAS right away.

You do not need to go to City Hall or the Chamber of Commerce. You can go to any of the information kiosks set up around the parks. We got one in March for my son.
That’s YMMV. We have a never ending circle of people who are allowed to do this and then a week or two later other people are absolutely not allowed to.

Thank you. We had people there last week who could not get the DAS at the Information Booth. They were told to go back to City Hall. Personally, I'd put one person in line at City Hall, then go check the information booth so you don't lose time.

Yup, my friend went to renew her stroller tag yesterday at an information kiosk and they were all out, so she had to go to City Hall anyway.

This is exactly why I hesitate to send new people straight to the kiosks on their first visit. If one of the kiosks works for them, great. But if they get sent to City Hall or Chamber of Commerce, they sometimes think it means something is wrong with them or with their request. At least if they go to City Hall or Chamber of Commerce first, they won't get sent anywhere else. I've never heard of anyone being sent to a kiosk from City Hall or Chamber of Commerce, only the other way around.

could someone explain recent DAS pass usage in California adventure?
we were there a year ago, and it didn't help us at all. we were told they didn't issue return times in the park, we just had to wing it , hoping they had a line for DAS entrance. we had no problems in diz park, they had return times set up at each ride, to set up. califonia adventure was really confusing.if you didn't have a max pass for cars you didn't get on.

This doesn't make sense to me -- DAS works in both DL and DCA, and has since the system was set up in 2013. We've used DAS in DCA for several years without any problem. Was there a misunderstanding that your request was for a mobility issue? All lines in DCA are accessible, unlike all lines in DL, so there are no wheelchair return times needed there. RSR has lines for standby, FP/MP, and SR -- as long as you are eligible to ride, you can use any of these 3 options.

I would not expect to get a first ride Return Time for the SWGE attractions when getting DAS.
Even now, nearly 2 years after opening, we’ve been told that the CMs at Guest Relations are not able to give a first DAS Return Time for the Pandora World of Avatar attractions.

no misunderstanding. daughter in law is legally blind & had her service dog with her. it was very strange on DCA, they told us since DCA was newer than diz side, there was accessibility in the lines, where on disney side, you enter through the exits. they wanted her to wait in line...never had any problem at wdw or the diz side , only DCA. wheelchair mobility wasnt the issue, walking & standing in lines when you are visually impaired is not easy.

The questions asked about your DIL's DAS in DL should have been exactly the same in DCA: 1) What is the problem with waiting in lines? and 2) How will having DAS help with that? Assuming the answers were accepted in DL and that your DIL had a park hopper ticket, the DAS given should have applied for both parks during her visit. If the problem is that your DIL has problems maneuvering in the lines, but doesn't have problems with the waiting in and of itself, that might be why the DCA CM declined to give DAS on that particular visit.

Is there a specific reason she can't use the lines? My daughter uses the regular lines in DCA with her dog to the point where they divert us to the HA area. In Disneyland, we have to get a return time because the lines aren't accessible and are too narrow for the service dog to guide (whereas in DCA, the queues are wide enough for the dog to guide.) But even in DL, many are getting widened (Matterhorn and Dumbo most recently.)

We have never had a DAS for my daughter's service dog. We have been told to follow the mobility device rules for the service dog. Example, we enter thru the exit for Peter Pan (after getting a return time) and same with Pirates, whereas we use the regular line for Matterhorn.

It sounds like they did not issue you a DAS pass at all. Disney thinks her cane is all she needs, if you disagree then you need to politely pushback with the cm you talk to when trying to set it up and explain exactly why lines are hard and how shorter lines will help. Das means you get return times from the info umbrellas and those return times will show up in you app along side any actual fastpass you get. With DAS you enter through the fastpass line or if there isn’t a fastpass line then it’s through the exit and that is true of both parks. Das is not offered for mobility issues or any other issues they think can be handled by her cane, or another guests wheelchair chair/ECV. So if the ride line doesn’t accommodate your mobility device you can get a return time from the ride cm or they will have you go directly to the line at the exit (or holding area for rides like space mt), but that process isn’t using DAS. Disneyland is so old that many ride lines are not accessible so you get to cut the line and enter the exit quite a bit. DCA is newer so the lines are actually accessible so unless you have what Disney considers an actual DAS issue you would need to just wait in the regular standby lines like everyone else.

Edited to add: guide dogs are the same as canes, wheelchairs etc in Disney's eyes. They think you don't need more help beyond that so that is why they are not putting DAS on your AP or ticket. If you do need more assistance and would benefit from having an actual DAS set up then you have to get them to actually understand that and issue you one (where you read all the rules there with them, they have you acknowledge you understand the rules by clicking the checkmark, then they usually give you your first return time right then and there). But it is always up to the CM you speak with to decide if it sounds like DAS is the right solution for your specific needs and the answer COULD change each time even if your needs don't.

no she had a guide dog, not a cane.
yes she was issued a DAS for each park, she had to go to guest services in each park, DCA, they said you walked thru the lines. Diz she was set up with return times ( like wdw). she is also legally deaf ( dont know if that was any difference). her service dog is trained to get her out of crowds, very frustrating for them, when in dizney, where there are always crowds, but even much so standing in a long line. it was confusing that DCA did not have return times, & magic kingdom did and wanted to know if this was still the norm.
