info there back to the '70s, very interesting
This one might be a little easier to read:

Since Jan. of 2006 we have seen a total price increase of $83 for an AP. With $39 of that coming in 2006 alone. I am just going to hold out and hope for a non-increase year for the AP's. Maybe they will just hit the Park Tix this year, who knows?:confused3

I just know that even with my DVC discount, I don't have the $1310+tax :scared1: laying around right now that it would cost to buy the AP's for me, DH, DS and DD. I will take my chances on a $15 price increase and pay the extra $60 then to lay down $1300 right now.

We are buying ours one at a time every 4 weeks or so. Spread the love, kwim.;)

I am not going until May and was wondering if I got an AP now would it not be activated until May when I trade in the voucher?

Yes, you can buy your AP voucher now and when you get your actual AP in May it will not expire for 365 days from the day you activate your voucher.

You can park hop as much as you want with an AP. I think Bobbi is buying some hoppers for family members that don't have APs.

I thought we could only buy renewals within 30 days of expiration? Were you outside that window last year, Bobbi?

We are the DGP and buy park hoppers for the family members who join us. So, we're going to load up on some non-expiration park hoppers for extended family members.

Regarding the renewals....maybe it's that you can't renew 30 days PAST the expiration date, there was nothing preventing me from getting these renewals. As I said, ours renew in September, and it's July and I was able to get the voucher from MS. It was pointed out that our new passes will expire one year from the present expiration date and that's in September.

Thank- you for the clarification! :thumbsup2

I cannot find an online link to renew. I called MS and was told I can't renew through MS until I'm within 30 days. The CM said that it might be possible at Guest Relations. So I called the general WDW ticket number and, after being on hold and transferred a couple of times, I WAS able to get a renewal voucher at the DVC rate. My current pass doesn't expire until Nov. and, like Bobbi, I was told that the voucher will move my expiration date up one year. Maybe the DVC AP and renewal rates won't even go up, but at least I'm covered.
You can also do it online if you go to the Disney site for annual pass holders and log in with the numbers on your pass. Then you can get to the section to renew at the DVC prices. When you get there, you can select the number of renewal vouchers you want to buy. I just did that with my DH's numbers from his current A/P and I ordered 4 A/P renewal vouchers to cover the two of us for the next two years. I don't see Disney going light on the ticket price increase as that has NOT been their recent trend. Now we are covered for our next two years of trips.

Bobbiwoz -

Do you know if the non-expiration tickets have to be used by the same family member? Lets say I bought a couple of the 10 day non-expiration tickets, can more than 2 people use them? I have a couple of people who are joining us this year and a couple that are joining us next year but they are not the same people, I thought I could buy them as gifts and split them between the two sets of people but wasn't sure if that could be done? Thanks for your help!

We just renewed ours, however, my DS just turned 3 and I was planning on buying his closer to our January trip. I think maybe I'll buy this week, just in case!

We are going to WDW the end of Jan. I need to buy 7 day park hoppers for my DD. I know Disneyland often has winter specials, doe WDW do this also? Would it be better to buy now before the expected price increase, or wait for Winter Specials?

We had purchased 1 day MYW base tickets in 2006 in order to get free dining (before joining DVC). We never used them but were planning to upgrade them in Sept to AP's. I know we have to upgrade at guest relations, but with the rumored price increase of AP's. I am wondering if I should just get the AP vouchers now.

My question for you experts is, Is there a way to get the voucher now over the phone and somehow get a credit, money back, or someway work in the upgrade for the MYW's?

I think the credit for upgrading the MYW's is $75.62 per adult and $63.12 per child. So if the price increase is less than these figures, it would seem to cost me less to wait, take the price hike, and upgrade in Sept. What do you guys think?

disney does the finger scan these days. So doubt that two people would have the same finger prints. (it is not looking at the finger prints - but a scan - don't ask me the difference)

Thanks spiceycat, I wasn't around to answer NSL. Different people can't use the same ticket.

I have sent the disboard thread about price increases to a few friends who are going to WDW with me through '09. I figure if they want to save a few bucks, they can act on the information.

Rockclimber,
I have never heard of anyone being able to use an old ticket to upgrade online or over the phone, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Maybe if you call the Disney ticket number and read the numbers off the 1 day tickets you can use them to upgrade, but I wouldn't count on it. Let us know what you find out if you call. Good luck!

I think you have to do it right there, at Guest Services. I'm facing a similar type thing, but I don't have my base tickets yet. We're heading down in Sept. I have an AP, it expires in late November. But, dd needs a new AP..her's expires Aug 3. We are doing the free dining, so will be getting 3 one day, one park passes..one for each of us. Dh has a park hopper from a previous trip. He will use two of the base, 1 day passes for two days, and then when we 'hop' he'll use a two-day, after 2 pm convention pass he got last winter..it expires in Dec so has to be used now. Then, he'll use a day on his non-expire hopper for the third/final day.
But...I was going to wait until we got to WDW, then, head to Guest Services and get dd her DVC discounted AP and use the third one day base ticket towards that as well. Now, the price is going up. My dd is going to need her AP to run from Sept-Aug because we have another trip in mid-Aug next year.
Last year, I was able to renew my AP, expire in Nov, in August.

We have purchased or renewed out AP ever since our original purchase in 2001. Our current pass expires in November but we will not be going back until at least February 2009. If we purchase new AP’s and end up never used it, :sad1: would it be transferable or refundable?

Thanks to both of you, I was wondering about that and thinking that with the "finger scans" that wouldn't work to share but wanted to make sure!

Sorry to sound dumb but how does one get 2 renewal vouchers for a person?

I thought renewal means your next tix starts at the same time the current ticket expires?

For example: if your curret tix is valid from August 1st 2007-July 31st 2008 that means your renewal voucher regardless of when you activate it will automatically starts from August 1st 2008?

Or am I crazy?

The vouchers have no date on them, they are just plastic cards. You turn in a voucher and get an A/P with the correct dates in exchange. You can have multiple plastic cards ready to use in the future. They don't expire.

DH and I both have 10 day no exp. hoppers. I'm wondering if I should head over to AAA and buy them for the kids now even though we aren't going until February.

FWIW: I need a 7-day hopper for a trip we're taking next week (taking a family friend who doesn't have an AP)...I called MS, who told me (1) they don't sell any tickets except APs; and (2) they don't think prices will be going up, as they said there was an increase just a couple of months ago...

I went ahead and bought my 7-day hopper regardless (used the disneyworld.com website, and arranged to get my ticket at will call)..in my experience, the "rumors" of ticket price increases here on the DIS have proven accurate! But thought I'd pass on what the CM at MS told me ...

Oh that's good to know. I thought only the new vouchers have no dates and the renewal are dated.
Thanks for the info :)

No the prices went up in Aug last year and the year before I think they went up 2X Jan and Sept.

Last year I renewed my on line too like another poster said...in Aug that expired in Oct and got voucher...it was easy...you just need the # from the back of the AP's

You're right - They did go up last August! We were out of town and I forgot to renew after reading about the price increase on here! I was out of luck!:sad2:
