Get water before takeoff?

and if your holding up boarding don't be supprised if they escort you off the plane.
Please take a seat and ask FA when all are boarded. Don't cause problems they don't need.

What happens if all pre-boarders decide they need water for the children?
Who decides who gets it when entering plane or when seated?

Boy if this happens boarding will really be a joke.

I said to be polite.. A polite person would NOT block the aisles from other boarders and if they can't get you water then perhaps you don't really want to fly that airline..

Perhaps what would happen is that the FAs would tell their management that this is causing them problems. If ALL the pre-boarders want water it doesn't matter if they sit down or not someone still has to run up and down the aisles to give it to you which can delay the process.. (Haven't you ever had them stop the boarding so the FA can get back from serving the First Class passengers)

Boarding is already a JOKE! Your steamer trunk was never designed to be a carry on.... I promise that this request for water is taking a lot less time then the folks who brought on the GIANT suitcase that won't fit in the overhead and now has to be gate checked....

Only in America is asking for service cause to be arrested... Wonderful job the TSA is doing. When they ask you to fly naked to "protect" you are you going to go along????

Guess I am going to jail....

Frankly this is where the airlines have an opportunity to step up and prove their customer service skills and desire to keep passengers. As I told Carol in a PM, I flew Air Canada a few weeks ago and we were served one half cup of beverage, not allowed to keep the can. This was on a 2.5 hour flight, leaving from an international airport which does not even sell beverages in bottles anymore, just paper cups in the bathroom or in a glass to be drunk at the bar. Even requests for more beverages were met with poor attitude, and reinforces my impression of Air Canada's poor service.

I also flew United several times in the past few weeks; while most of those flights were in business or first, I did sit in Economy a few times and the beverage service was almost constant.

Aer Lingus apparently places a bottle on each seat before boarding. Delta gives passengers their own 500 ml bottle. There is an opportunity for other airlines to do the same.

Yes, you did say be polite and you also said: "Stand there and ask for it, do not take no for a response. Be polite, but keep asking." and "My point is that by standing there you are delaying their boarding". You later said to step to one side. Well, if everyone started to board and made the request and stepped to the side, it would really be a mess.
I know you have a real case of the a** with the TSA, but they just might know more than we do and frankly, the fact that you have a problem with the rules is your problem. If you buy a ticket to fly you are making a tacit agreement to follow the rules. Obviously you have choices, just like all of us.
I think some of the rules are totally inane, but, I like to fly, so, I follow the rules. Really quite simple.
If there was really an infringement on our rights, you can bet the ACLU would be all over it like white on rice.
I fly a great deal and have yet to encounter a rude TSA person. They have all been extreamly nice and friendly and I do believe the reflect the attitude given to them by pax.

You are not advocating asking for service, you are advocating causing a bog in boarding. That is a Federal Offense. THe comment about flying naked is really a bit overboard, don't you think? I hardly think we will ever see that.
It is a Federal Offense to form any sort of line in the forward area of an aircraft. I am sure you have heard that announcement more than once. They say it in pre take off all the time. And, it applies to boarding.
You are supposed to board the plane and proceed to your seat in an orderly fashion. Don't, please, get me started on carry ons. I , like you, have some major issues with that and since the new regs went into effect I have seen a lot less of that nonsense.

Hey, I have a answer to the problem. Since gel bra's have been un-banned, I plan to fill one side with my h2o and a sippy straw and the other side with my lip balm. See, problem solved. :rotfl2: :lmao: :teeth:

As I board I usually ask the FA (flight attendant) for a bottle of water so that I can take medicine. I have never once been refused.

Now if only I could convince Delta to have an ice cold bottle of Pepsi waiting for me when I board then my life would be SO much easier despite these ridiculous restrictions.

OHHH, I SOOOOO hope I can do this although I don't need it for medication I will though say so.
I am a T E R R I B L E flyer and always need to sip water during takeoff since I die a thousand deaths taking off and landing and feel like I can't swallow so the water does help.
I am flying Oct. 21 and have been thinking about this (among a thousand other things) since the new rules.
I will ask for water for medication since hopefully they will just think I need it to calm down and give it to me as soon as they are available and HOPEFULLY prior to takeoff. :sad2:
