I have visited these forums for quite some time and enjoy reading the various reviews of restaurants. The trend has gone towards a lot of negative reviews and I was trying to figure out why everything was getting worse instead of better.
Part of my assignment at my job was to find out the difference between perception and reality when it comes to customer service so I decided what better way to research a paper other than going to Disney and getting a first hand experience.
Ohanas has been getting a ton of negative reviews so I decided that would be my first stop. Realizing that service is a hit or miss due to the nature of the game, we visitated various restaurants on Disney property to try to get a random sample of experiences.
What I found out that it was YOU people that make the experience terrible for others, not the restaurants themselves.
So at Ohanas we were promptly seated and given our drinks and salad. Servers kept coming back to the table next to us and they would rush back to the kitchen for something else. The guests at the table next to us were HORRIBLE. 2 of the 6 didnt like ANYTHING that they had to eat so insisted a chef come to the table. We saw the chef at their table no less than 6 times bring various dishes out specially made for them, but they always complained. Everything from the salad to the bread pudding had to be tossed and something specially made for these idiots. This took away from everyones experience around them.
Service for everyone around us was awful because that one table had everyone running around like wild indians trying to please them. On top of that they refused the gratuity when presented with the check. So not only did the 2 waiters run around and accomadate every wish and desire, but the head chef was out there the whole evening.
Dined at another location and the table across the isle sat down and had 3 sheets of paper listing allergies and wanted special service as well. Everyone did a wonderful job helping those that needed it, but at the expense of everyone else in the restaurant.
Everywhere we dined people were complaining about anything possible. Family checked in right behind us and was seated before us. No problem I said to myself, but when we were being seated a few minutes later a manager was already at their table and they were complaining that they were seated 5 minutes after their reservation and were very upset at Disney.
Get a grip people. The very people that post negative issues all the time are what is causing everyone else to suffer.
My experience at Disney this past week would have been magical if not for all the rude and inconsiderate people I ran into along the way.
Go there and enjoy what there is and stop ruining the enjoyment for everyone else. If you dont like your dining experience and just want to cause problems, take a darn peanut butter and jelly with you and just shut up.
