How come anytime anyone critizes anything President Obama says or does it is met with "get over it" or "must be sour grapes". Can't the man be criticized? I don't understand it at all? Yea, there have been some petty threads/gripes but there have also been some legitimate ones.

It will be YEARS before this country even begins to think about coming together but remarks like those will not help. If/When I don't agree with something he does I don't think it should automatically be dismissed simply because I'm not, or ever was, an Obama supporter.

Yes there are some sour grape posters our there but not all are. And don't forget that there are many sore winners out there too. (I think most of them are on the DIS. :lmao: )

ETA: I forgot that I was briefly an Obama Supporter way back in the day.

I criticized him about an hour ago, and no one gave me any grief about it. :confused3

I think people generally only criticize what they consider illegitimate criticisms. Try making a legitimate criticism -- I bet, and surely would hope, that you enjoy the same reception to it as I have with mine. :hippie:

Good question, I've been wondering that.popcorn::

Knock yaself out, it's a party day.

I only feel like telling people to get over it if the gripes are petty (like the oath thread today--jeez people were just itching for a reason to complain). If there are justified gripes about the man, believe me, I'll probably be the first in line to complain about him because, well, that's just my nature.:p Really, if he seriously screws up, I won't hold back. Promise. But it is the pettiness.

Exactly! Criticism is inevitable, but when it's over something completely petty and unnecessary it's hard not to recognize the ridiculousness of it :confused3

I wasn't around in 2000 or 2004 so I don't know how the "other side" was treated or how they acted. Is the reaction now payback for those times? :confused3

OP, I don't understand either and in fact I was rudely and personally lectured today for being bitter. I am a 50 year old grandmother that received this tongue-lashing and I don't appreciate it. Whatever happened to respecting your elders? Seriously. :confused3 They really need to take a look in the mirror.

Do you think you are the only middle aged person here? :confused3 I'm very close to 50, but I don't think my age should convey any special treatment.

I guess that is an old-fashioned idea that is not in vogue anymore. Sorry. I was just thinking that life experiences and lessons learned can be shared with younger folks. Evidently, that is a bad idea.

I agree.

And respect is earned, not automatic. And it can be lost, too. JMO.

Since Obama won in November... Any posts about BUSH(while actually doing something) were met with, "get over it, your guy won, stop being a sore winner"

Just pointing that out.

I also find it funny that "some" Republicans get so upset that some actually try to post their point of view on political subjects.
They start the "oh we cant say anything about THE CHOSEN one without them coming to his defense"... So if they post it is OK, but if we counter post they feel we need to calm down.

Anyone else having posts disappear? Mine aren't even controversial, petty, griping, sarcastic, etc and they keep going away!

And I'm sorry if you think 50 is old. I'm just getting warmed up. I get a chuckle every time I see you refer to yourself as a 50 year old grandmother, as if you were ancient or something.

Indeed, many of us are members of AARP. And even so, I wouldn't expect Gen X'ers to be deferential to us. Maybe Gen Y'ers. Maybe.

I am really sorry but...I think that if you can't take it as well as give it, then the boards are probably not for you. No one gets any special treatment as far as I have seen:confused3

Valid criticism is always expected. It is the basis of our political freedom that we can comment about our govt and our leaders. However, petty criticism about ridiculous things is just that, petty and unproductive.
