Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014 Group

I HAVE to do early tomorrow too. Before DH leaves for work. So. So. Early.

Add me to the early crew. I have an hour + scheduled for tomorrow, and I have to be home and showered in time to take my daughter to rehearsal--which is at the playhouse 1/2 hour away. Challenge....accepted? ;)

I haven't posted in a while. Just read this thread and the main August one to get caught up.

I am also overlapping with you guys: Pikester, digiMom and disMom1981! Our dates are 8/16-8/23.

I plan to keep up with my strength training in the AKV fitness room and maybe some running on the treadmill, too, to burn off the extra calories I plan on eating.

I weighed in last Friday and was both shocked and thrilled to be down 2.6 pounds! The healthy food choices I've been making plus the workouts are paying off!

I can't seem to get out and run early enough to beat the heat, so I've run on the treadmill at the gym the past few times. I still sweat and get my heart rate up, and that's the goal, right?

Hello my friends. :goodvibes I'm still keeping at it. Running and trying to eat healthy. This weekend was not a healthy eating one as we had a wedding to attend on Saturday and my birthday to celebrate. Went out Friday night for my official birth date (turned the big 41) and then had cake and ice cream last night with extended family.

The running is happening about 3 times a week. I'm using a 5K app to help me increase my time but I can't really tell as I don't time myself as I'm running. I just do what the app tells me to do and when to do it. Contemplating running a 5K on Friday the 4th in a nearby town. Sure would keep the guilt away while I'm eating all the yummy stuff I plan on eating at the 4th of July cookout I'm attending.

:bday:

I won't say things are going well, I may actually be going backwards as far as shape is concerned :scared: but this week's been good one for me. I walked to the grocery store 3 times with children and a buggy. That's roughly 12 blocks each way! :cheer2: Today was a busy day pushing a buggy loaded with roughly 60lbs of food and child/baby care stuff as well as at least one child. We went to our local Canada day Celebration - nothing overly strenuous, but enough out of the ordinary that I think it counts. Tomorrow I'm heading to a friends farm to help her clear a path, by hand, through her forest so the kiddos have a fun place to explore.

All total there was a lot of exercise this week, a lot of sun, and a lot of practice standing in lines. I'm REALLY looking forward to FP+ after standing in line for 1 hr to slide down bouncy house slide!

Where are you staying/park days? Congrats on the weight loss! The mornings are tough with the heat. I just hate the extra ten minutes driving to and from the gym.

Thank you!

I think pushing around that much is a work out.

Oh my. I hope you feel better soon.

Countdown: 4 weeks until August 1st! :woohoo:

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

That's awful! Wonder what caused such a lengthy headache?

Better now, although my stomach still feels off. Just kind of yucky. And I'm still a little foggy.

I'm so sorry you're still having problems. Do they think they caught your infection pretty early, or did you have it a while before they diagnosed it? I hope you feel better soon.

My mom had some problems about 15 years ago and begged them to test her. They never did. They said she had fibromyalgia and needed seratonin or something. She was so frustrated. Said she even remembers having the rash.

I stressed this weekend over a job interview and skills assessment. I had it this morning. While driving up to my job afterwards I flipped out and got a mcdonalds cheeseburger, fries and coke. Total stress eating. I think I can get back to getting in shape now, though :)

A question for you all.

What is one thing that you have learned while on this journey to getting healthy?

I've learned that it does not have to be all or nothing when it comes to exercising. In doing a bunch of reading about running 5Ks or even a marathon it is not considered a fail if you have to walk parts of it.

I've been so bad- eating everything! It's so hard! I love eating!

I guess I have learned that you have to just keep doing it- even if you have an awful few days....move in and it's a new day and try to get back in the routine rather than just throw in the towel.

I've learn it really helps to have this group!

And I've learned that it's not a sledgehammer project. My body doesn't respond like it did when I was younger. I have to work on it in a way that is kind and healthy. One day at a time.. like dripping water.
