Get away today word of warning!

I don't hear a lot of get away today packages on these boards, but still thought I would put this out there. I used them once, but found the process a bit clunkly. The below didn't happen to me but I think others should hear it if they are using GAT..

If you purchase your package through GAT on their layaway plan, you cannot make park reservations until you pay off the tickets in full. Final payment isn't due until 30 days before. Just read a story of a family who paid it off and there are no park reservations available.

I'm sure GAT has warnings on their site about this, however I think it's easy to get consumed because booking a plan with a deposit through Disney directly does let you make them before full payment..

This is a great thing to bring up. I just bought tickets from GAT a few days ago, and made sure that I put them on a credit card so that I could make my reservations. I was being extremely thorough about the process because I was afraid I would mess it up somehow, and in that process I did see the warning about not being able to make reservations until the layaway plan was completed, but you are right it is easily missable if you are not as paranoid as myself

Interesting. I wonder if this is specific to Disneyland? I have booked a Disney World vacay through them, paid only the deposit and was able to make park reservations right away.

It is! DisneyWorld let's you book your reservations before pay off! Another reason it could catch someone off guard.

It is a bummer, I was surprised too when we they first told me it changed. It's probably because you need your ticket number to make the reservations and before they didn't release that info to you until your trip was paid off.
