Get a free sandwich at Earl of Sandwich

Thank you for posting that statement TravelandLeisure. I was starting to wonder what people's problem was. Frankly after reading several remarks by people who had clearly not read the whole thread this will probably be the first and last time I post anything. Lurking is much safer! I do want to thank the OP for the useful info she has provided.

So you have a different email address for your middle name? I think the point of the promotion is to get new people signed up for their email club so yes, signing up again using your middle name is cheating a bit. That's what people are pointing out.

As they say "This is why we can't have nice things..."

The OP has clearly stated that she did not get a chance to use her first coupon as they have a 30 day expiration policy. So therefore this will be the first and *only* time she will get a free sandwich. I'm having a tough time figuring out why some of you guys seem to care so much.

Well, she missed the boat on her first coupon. Tough, better luck next time. That's no excuse to go and make up a separate email account to get the offer reissued.

This is why businesses cut back on specials. Red Robin offers a free burger on your birthday, and yes, you have to show proof that it's your birthday in order to get it. Why? Because anyone can sign up using 12 different email addresses (not too far fetched if you think between work, home, clubs, sports, etc) for each month of the year.

Sometimes people care too much because when something gets abused, it can get taken away.

Well, if her first coupon expired, then why not just email the company and tell them she wasn't able to use the coupon and request they bypass their 30-day expiration policy and have one be re-issued? Likely its because she knows they would not do it, and so her attempts at getting around that are gaming the system. Look when you have to resort to some sort of duplicity to get what you want, then you kind of know you are not entitled to it. It bothers other people because it does eventually effect everyone else when companies get wise and stop promotions like this one. I am sure the OP is not the only person to sign up more than once to get another coupon and the company will probably not be happy when they realize their 2000 members are actually only 50 people with multiple accounts lol.

While I think one reason EOS has a promo is to encourage a customer

to try a sandwich and hopefully become a repeat customer ... The Bashing of the OP

Does not seem to be conducive of a positive outcome / discussion.

I signed up and got the coupon, which I used last month. EOS was plenty busy, but they keep things moving along pretty well. Well worth the trip.

Don't let this thread scare you off the boards, Iheart3. While there is often an unnecessary amount of judgement doled out, there are a lot of posters who are equally helpful. Be sure to check out some of the other forums as well. While I don't post often here on the budget board (this thread is a perfectt example of why), there's a lot of fun to be had elsewhere on the Dis.

The way the OP is stating that they are using additional emails and such to get more coupons to get freebies is not leading to a repeat customer. It's leading to a repeat of abuse of the system. There is no positive outcome with something like this. Eventually, EOS will catch on and they'll require additional information that they can flag people who are trying to "abuse" the system. It's a short term win for the OP but a long term loss when EOS pulls this kind of promotion.

I believe the OP is getting a lot of grief because her first posts indicated that she planned to sign up several different times to get multiple coupons. The rules stopped her from implementing this plan. The OP has also admitted to making a WDW hotel reservation for the sole purpose of getting free Magic Bands and then canceling that same reservation once those bands arrived. It seems like she tries to get more than her "fair share" of freebies and perks by trying to go around the rules for her benefit. People don't like it and are calling her out.

And this is why we end up with so many rules and regulations attached to everything. People can't be trusted to do the right thing and make it more difficult for everyone else. I'm surprised about the Magic Bands - bet Disney has to find a way to deal with that one now too since I'm sure others are doing the same thing.

This is a great tip -thanks for sharing. My daughter and her three friends will be visiting in June and will be on a tight budget so this will certainly help!

Yum! Yum! Yum!! We love EOS SOOOOOO much!! Wish they had one in our area. But I guess that makes it even more exciting when we finally get to have it again. :)

wow, I have just read the entire thread and I can feel the waves of judgement all the way over here in Europe!! Seriously folks just chill the bleep out about getting more than one coupon! I work in marketing and you all have such the wrong idea about why companies do these offers and why companies stop these offers.

Free offers like this are done for marketing reasons. They want people to use the coupons. Yes they put in some restrictions but at the end of the day its about how many hits on the website the offer produced and how many coupons were actually used. Its about getting customers into the stores and buying. I haven't seen the coupon but I'm sure things like drinks or sides or deserts are not included. THATS where EOS will make their money. The markup on soda fountain drinks for example is huge, EOS will make more from selling 5 drinks then selling 5 sandwiches.

Also all these offers have a lifecycle. They are planned meticulously, and have a start, middle and end. The offer ending will be known in advance, some offers will be live for months, some maybe longer, some maybe shorter.

EOS honestly don't care if you sign up, print off and use multiple coupons. All they will care about is how many coupons were used and how much sales increased due to the use of coupons. They will be caring about how many people signed up to their newsletter. They will be able to tell how many people clicked through to the offer FROM THIS THREAD . They will be tracking the comments on this thread.

So just stop with the judgements to the original poster as in actual fact you are all being used by EOS marketing team for free promotion!! OOOPS bet you didn't see that one coming

I appreciate the thoughts of an expert in the field. I have often struggled to understand the motivation of companies that advertise and market their products.

hi @fbb thanks. Alot of the time the objectives of a marketing campaign may not make sense to customers. Marketing departments have a clear view of what they want to achieve and what type of customers they want to target. They will have targets to hit and the campaign is measured by these targets. For example, in this case, if people were checking out the offer but not signing up, then they would look at that and take action. Or they could look at the numbers signing up for the offer and the amount of printouts used.

Marketing budgets can be huge for campaigns, depending on the size of the company. EOS would know the exact profit margins on sandwiches and that would be built into the budget of the campaign. For example they will know that using the coupon for a free sandwich gives a loss of X amount BUT when the coupon is used drinks and sides are also bought which will give a profit of Y amount, which means the overall profit per transaction is increased.

Just to make things clear, I am just using my marketing experience here, I don't work for EOS

Thanks for the tip! I will get the family to sign up so we can go for lunch!
