Gerbil? Hamster? Guinea Pig?

When I first read this, my first reaction was "NONE! A rat!" but then I saw that you said "least rat like." :guilty: I have a rat and she's the sweetest thing ever. In my experiences, hamsters have always been very jittery and don't really like to be handled. But maybe I just got a few bad ones?

My hamster isn't jittery and as long as your hands are nice and warm, he'll stay with you forever :)

Another vote for guinea pig.

If you want the "least rat-like" definitely stay away from gerbils, that tail!

I can't really say anything because I've only had a hamster. A cat or dog is always my choice for a pet but my hamster was okay. Wasn't very social, had to have it's cage cleaned quite often, like every 3 days. Just my experience, I've had friends who had hamsters, some very social and cuddly.

I vote for Guinea Pig also!!

One word of caution they can catch human colds and die from them. Our Teddy did and we only had him for one year. He was the sweetest thing ever....better than some of the cats I've had!!
