I am not sure what George Osbourne ment here, but from what I can gather it's not very good for him now. Whether he actually said what he is accused of saying is another matter, but I'll assume by the fact he is denying saying it he did.

In my opinion he should definitely apologise here; Anyone with Autism is my Cousin, and it's not nice to offend me or my family.. Even if he didn't say it; I still want an apology! :furious:

If he did say it, then YES he should apologise. Also, it is wrong to assume....that invariably makes a "***" out of "u" and "me".

However, if he didn't say it what type of apology are you expecting?

I don't know what kind of apology I'd expect; maybe one just to show he's a good sport and means well, or something along those lines.

I know I shouldn't assume, but if you read the news as much as I do whenever someone denies anything, it's normally true; the writers of Doctor Who do it all the time. And let's remember he's a policitian; it's his job to lie to everyone.

I hope things become clearer over the course of the week; that way we can judge his character a bit better than we currently can.

OOH! You can't say he lied.....more like "Re-engineering the truth" ;)

This guy is my MP, so I hope he did not say it.

I wondered the same :)

At worst his comment was a childish attempt at humour but i think you are being unfair on him, have you not laughed at the deaf woman episode of Fawlty Towers, the stuttering man in A Fish Called Wanda or the lampooning of religion in Life Of Brian? These could all be accused of being offensive to certain people. This country is too pc now without it getting any worse although like most I would object to any serious mockery of any disability or racism.

I kind of agree with you, but its one thing calling your mate a "joey" when they do something stupid, to a public figure such as a member of parliament coming out with a statement like that.
One things for sure, the left wing press will make more of a big deal of it than the right wing !

Its my opinion it might open up an 'autistic debate' and more people may realise how vast the spectrum is and be more aware of it and what the sufferers and their families have to go through. Quite a few of us on here are parents of ASD children and its nice to be able to 'chat' to someone who knows how you feel, it would be a good thing for others to know what we have to put up with.

If he said it he's an idiot. I'm a Senco and get really annoyed when my kids get labelled let alone a public figure making silly comments apparently 'for a laugh'.
