geocaching

I'd like to get whatever equipment is needed in order for our family to try this. The only problem is that I have absolutely no clue - I think it's some type of GPS unit? Can someone please give a decent recommendation for what to buy? If I can get it off Amazon, even better!

Oh, I used to have a friend here on the DIS BOARDS named Joanne that did that all the time. I have not seen her around here for awhile. Maybe she will come on and see your thread and post. She and her DH does allot of geocaching in the Northeast. Actually, she had a thread on geocaching on the CB at one time.

We haven't gone in a few years, but we have the Garmen e-trex Legend and have used it just fine. We would enter/compare our coordinates of the caches from geocaching.com and away we would go.

I hope she does! There seems to be a wide range of prices on the Garmin GPS units. DH and I thought it might be a fun thing to do with the kids. We like to be outdoors. His parents live next to a park in the Twin Cities and have a treasure buried in the park so see people there all the time. I did google and it looks like something we could do while at WDW also.

Check these units out, kind of pricey but feature packed!
I enjoy placing caches in my own town on the less traveled paths. Lets people discoer new areas they didn't know about before. Also as stated above once you buy the gps unit, there is no user fees at all
