Genuine question for people who have cruised more than once...

*pointing at my new ticker I added this morning* I talked to hubby last night and he wasn't completely on board due to expense but he didn't say no either. So there we go. :) Ah. I feel so much better now. lol

Too close together? Not at all! Our past Disney cruises have usually been spread anywhere from 10 to 12 months apart, in August we will be doing two cruises in a 10 day period (not B2B) and then another in May next year (approx. 8 month gap)... and all of this whilst having to travel from the west coast of Australia. At the end of the day I think it differs from person to person, it's only too close if YOU think it is :)

We went on our first cruise in January. WE LOVED IT. (Obviously). We booked another, with extended family, for August 2018. I would love to go on another either this Christmas or March Break, so before the big family one.

For those that have cruised multiple times, this may sound silly but would that be too close together? I would hate for the special-ness of our big family cruise be taken away because we went on another a few months earlier. Does that even make sense? :P What are your thoughts on this?

Cruised once now can't stop thinking about the next one

If you can swing a Christmas cruise between your last cruise and the August 2018 cruise, it will be so different from the other two; because of how DCL decorates their ships for the holiday and all the other special touches that goes with Christmas. We did a Christmas cruise two years ago and it will go down as one of my favorite cruises. It truly was a magical cruise vacation pixiedust:

The only "special-ness" lost on us for all the cruises we have taken; we don't care if we are one of the first people on the ship during embarkation. We actually like getting to the port a little later. Typically get signed in sooner and no wait for our turn to walk up the gangplank. And we don't have to lug around our carry-ons waiting for the staterooms to open so we can dump them off. But once we are in the stateroom dropping everything off, standing out on the veranda and getting a look at the Navigator we are just as excited to get the vacation going as we were for our first DCL vacation.

For us it never looses its luster. If we could squeeze more cruises in than we do we would.

We loveeeee cruising but for us our budget doesn't allow for more than one per year. If you can afford it, why not?! Having only the one Disney cruise under your belt so far I doubt the specialness will diminish anytime soon :)

Everybody is different. We love going on a cruise twice a year (spring and fall) because six months gives us just enough time to miss cruising A LOT.

That being said, I also think that if you do the same ships and itineraries over and over, it will lose its special-ness like you said. Ex: We have done 3 cruises with DCL in the Bahamas and one cruise with Carnival also in the Bahamas. I was bored with the Bahamas after the 2nd cruise, bored with the Dream after 2 cruises and now bored with DCL after 3 cruises.

I would recommend changing ships and itineraries every time.

We've done November/December and then February a couple of times and are doing it again this Fall/Winter. I like having them pretty close together, but the wait for the next one after February feels like forever.

At the end of this year alone we will have done 4 DCL(16 total), plus we have a British Isles cruise for next year and a placeholder for another one........
We will place another placeholder when we sail in Sept.
DCL is our floating hotel to knew places, most of the time new!
Never get tired of it......

This year we will have done 4 DCL cruises plus a Viking River Cruise in France. The only repeated itinerary was a 3-night/4-night b2b in the Bahamas in January (but that gave us two stops at CC). Next year, we have 4 trips that include a total of 6 DCL cruises (2 trips include b2bs). The only repeat of a previous itinerary will be a 5-night to the Bahamas b2b with a Western Caribbean. The Bahamas portion includes Key West (which we look forward to visiting again), Nassau (where we'll stay on board), and CC, so we enjoy the itinerary even though we've been to all three ports before. Every cruise provides new opportunities to meet interesting people and enjoy the DCL hospitality.

Never too much for me or never less magical!!! Last year we did the Fantasy in August and then I did the Magic TA from Barcelona to NY in September and then a Magic cruise of NY in October and a Wonder cruise out of Galveston in January!!

And...I am leaving for an Adventures By Disney river cruise in Europe next week.

I don't have children, so I can't give a thought provoking answer for how to effectively teach about the value of the trip. I know that as a child, I was challenged to earn my own money for souvenirs because it was special just being able to go and I knew my mother couldn't pay for the small things :)

As an adult, I find every Vacation amazing and am thankful to be able to go. Granted, paying for it probably just helps with that lol

If it makes you happy and you can afford it, do it :) Every Vacation will be different because of the infinite factors into making a vacation memorable :)

I've been on 51 cruises, various lines, and have done up to 5 cruises in 1 year. It just depends why you are going. If you're only going to do the same things over and over again, you may get bored (or not, there's no right answer there). But also keep in mind that a cruise with extended family is different than a cruise with just immediate family or cruising as a couple. The fewer people traveling, the less you have to compromise on activities/events etc. Also, some times I cruise for the ports, and sometimes I cruise to just relax, and don't even get off the ship in port. So it's just up to you, but there's no wrong way to cruise!

This year we cruised in Feb and will cruise in August and November. Sometimes we cruise 2+ times a year, sometimes we go a year or two without cruising. We've also done 2 family reunion cruises. We always have a good time and love to cruise. I don't think you'll feel that the cruises are too close. If you cruise in December you'll love the Very Merrytime Cruises. They are special!

I have cruises booked for December and January and I'm worried that might be too close together and diminish the excitement for the January cruise. The December cruise is only 3 days though and goes to CC. My daughter is sad that our January cruise does not go to CC so the December cruise might make up for that. Decisions, decisions!

The most we've done is three in one year - it did not feel like too much! We did a quick 3 night Bahamian in January, a 7-night Alaskan and a 7-night Southern Caribbean. They were each so very different in itinerary that it didn't feel like the same ol same ol at all. This year we are doing the Mexican Riviera in October and then another Southern in January - no regrets! I hope you have a blast on yours!

The only time close together cruises has been an "issue" for me was this year. In December I didn't think the Adonia (fathom's ship at the time) was that bad. But then I hadn't been on DCL since Feb 2015. In Feb 2017 I went on the Magic and then in April 2017 I was back on the Adonia and all the things I'd overlooked before were GLARING!!!
