After you enter the park and buy genie+ and make your selection can you continue to make selections when you leave the park. I will be staying offsite and wonder if i can make selections during my break at the hotel or must all selections be made in park

Once you have scanned into the park for the day, you can leave and still make Genie selections. You do not have to be in the park after the initial scan.

For DLR or for WDW? At DLR you have to scan into a park before you can make Genie+ selections.

I went to DLR in January and WDW in April of this year and it may have been WDW only where I made Genie at hotel.

You absolutely have to scan into the parks at Disneyland before making Genie+ selections, regardless of where you are staying.
