I know that DLR doesn’t have magic bands, but if we have them from WDW would they work for GP return or does it have to be a phone? I’m wondering if I need to add the Disneyland app to my teen daughter‘s phone for rides they go on without me?

you cannot use Magic Bands anywhere at Disneyland resort at this time. That could change, and there have been some announcements that it will change, but as of right now, no.

The first time you use your tickets, you should get a paper ticket at the turnstyle entrances. You can then use either your phone, or the paper ticket (it's about the size of a credit card).

Edit since I thought paper tickets were no more:

It would be smart to have the Disneyland app on her phone regardless. The magic bands from WDW won't work at DLR and I'd imagine when Magic bands do come to DLR, you'll need the latest version.

Yes, she'll need the app to redeem the Genie+ selections. It would be smart to have the Disneyland app on her phone regardless. The magic bands from WDW won't work at DLR and I'd imagine when Magic bands do come to DLR, you'll need the latest version.

She does not have to have the app to redeem G+ selections. The paper ticket issued at the turnstile on first admission will also work, as a PP said. However, I agree that it would still be a good idea for her to have the app for other reasons as well (see wait times, when next G+ is, park info, maps etc.) in which case she will have the option of scanning in with the phone or her paper ticket.

Thank you everybody! It’s been a while since we were at DLR and are excited to go!! I’m glad there are still paper tickets. We can try both so we can see times but also not completely kill all the batteries!

Make sure to buy a portable phone charger on Amazon or similar before you go. Anker is the brand I trust and have had several. I also purchase extra long charging cables as I use mini backpacks for my purse and I can charge my phone and still use it. Even if not using it all the time it can eat up battery life based on how warm it is , what apps are open , etc. Most good chargers have at least 2 ports so multiple people can use it at once. Though will ay my new Galaxy 22 Ultra has made it an entire day with no charging needed and I take on average 100 or more pics a day.
