Ok , now that G+ has been a thing for a while, I thought I would ask some more detailed questions or a what if senario.

1. How late can you cancel a lighting lane? Up to the last minute of your return time, so long as you have not “tapped in”?

2. If your fishing for a Multipass, how long after a ride actually goes down do you have to make a LL for a downed ride?

3. At what point is is not worth it to wait for a Multipass chance during the day? Is this really just a morning thing? I mean in most cases you have to wait an hour for the ride to be down during a lighting lane window , that seems like alot of wasted time for a chance at a MLL especially if its a busy day?

4. If only some of your party is going to use a LL, at a certain time, what would you do with the other folks LL availability at that time?

5. If you are in line “tapped in” on a LL and the ride goes down? Does it automatically convert to a MLL? (unlike waiting till the end of your window if not tapped in?”

1) Up to 15 minutes after the return time posted on the LL (same to use). However, I will rarely wait that long to cancel (it does suck though when you cancel 10 minutes early and shortly after the attraction breaks down).

2) Not sure what is being asked. Usually when a ride goes down it is in Disney's best interest to immediately post a longer return time for that attractions LL. If you are lucky or you catch the down time early you may be able to get a quick return time if the attraction is down. Most of the time you have to guess which attraction may go down.

3) Morning time is easiest when it comes to getting an MLL. Especially for the gold tiers (Matterhorn, Space, TSMM, Indiana Jones). As the day goes on then look at the lower tiers. Most of the time I do not get the LL for Indiana Jones (use Stand By in the morning) and use that attraction to hopefully catch a breakdown in between the use of LLs. However, I consider this PRO FISHING, the average guest will not know how to leverage this and get quick LLs for other attractions.

4) If your party wants to split LLs then the splitters would need to manage their own LLs.

5) No you will need to stay in line and wait for the CMs to clear the attraction and then ask for your LL back (which could be an MLL, but sometimes only a LL for that same attraction).

I was there this weekend, here is what I experience while trying to "fish" for LL. I didn't have much luck in the AM, but surprisingly good luck in the PM.

2) It depends....I had a LL for IASW that was down for 57 minutes of the window, when it opened at 57 minutes I cancelled and never got a MEP (although I took a screen shot and a CM later gave me one when I requested it politely). But later Splash was down and I booked multiple LLs that converted to MEPs before the window even opened. Same experience the following day on Incredicoaster and Monsters Inc.

3) I had good luck in the PM, in part because we took a break. I had already locked in or used the LLs that book out further (Space, Indy...) and so I had to wait for later windows on the ones I wanted anyway. In this time I booked stuff that was down and got lucky. On two different days I got so many MEPs in the PM that we couldn't use them all before leaving the park.

5) We were tapped into Splash when it went down and they cleared the line, the CM gave us a MEP (it was not automatic), but we could not rebook Splash because we had already tapped in and therefore used out LL on Splash.

what wait? So you didnt get a splash LL at all? After it broke down and your were on line?

I guess they now expected you yo use that MLL for Splash?

2. If fishing, you have to book a LL while the ride is still down, and the ride has to stay down until the give a MEP. Often the ride comes back up before your window opens or before they decide to issue the MEP.

3. If it is really busy, you can't waste too much time on Fishing (IMO) because then you risk not getting the LLs you actually want, at times that work for you. We were there over Easter, and we had no luck on arrival day (entered parks around 1pm; even had trouble getting LLs that we wanted, let alone MEP). We had better luck on our full days, and as OP said, sometimes you have better luck at night (maybe they are less quick to fix rides that go down at night, as opposed to rides that go down at 9am, so the night closures last longer and give you more time to snag a MEP?).

4. You can either book something else for the others (a different LL) or, if those folks don't want to ride the original ride at all (for example, my DD14 and I do not ever ride GOTG, my DD16 and DH love it), I would book the ride for everyone (my example, book GOTG for all 4 of us) and then the two that like that ride can do it twice, back to back via LL (make sure you have enough time to ride it twice in the window). Alternatively, you can book GOTG (in my example) for the people who want to ride it. Then later, book GOTG for the people who didn't want to ride it, but at a later time, so that the first two people can ride it twice, at two different times of day.

5. It is not automatic if you've already tapped in. You will need to see a CM; what they give you "depends".

what wait? So you didnt get a splash LL at all? After it broke down and your were on line?

I guess they now expected you yo use that MLL for Splash?

Yes, we never actually used a LL on Splash, but since we had tapped in the Splash LL was no longer available. We got a MEP and the CM explained "now you have this MEP for Splash whenever." I guess the moral is, hope for the ride to go down before you tap in.

Can you get a MEP for the following day if a ride goes down in the last hour of the operating schedule? We used to get those all the time on our multi-day trips with MaxPass + Indy.
