I'm helping someone plan a trip to DL, and I've only ever been to WDW. Can you get a plastic key card to use with Genie+ and Lightning Lanes? The party will include kids without phones who will want to break off and so stuff a bit on their own. I tried searching but I was getting kind of overwhelmed, weeding through all the Q&A on this topic.

Thanks!!

Yes, the plastic keycard will work just fine.
Sorry, didn't realize this was in the DL section.

Everyone will get a physical PAPER park ticket with a barcode upon first entry at the turnstiles. This will work for Genie+ scanning in. Be careful not to lose it. You can't really put it in a lanyard because of the orientation of the barcode, so make sure those kids know to keep it somewhere safe.

Honestly, if the kids will be going off on their own, they need at least one phone. You need the phone to manage the Genie+ selections. Plus, it's handy to have a way to communicate. If no phones, at least get then Magicbands so they don't have to worry about losing their park ticket.

Interesting. Thank you! They were hoping to save the cost of the Magic Bands but I guess that won't happen.

I really can't imagine trying to navigate these parks without a phone at this point. How old are these kids that they are old enough to go off on their own but don't have phones? They don't need to have their own Disney accounts, but they really should have a phone if they will be separating from their parents for any amount of time. The parks can get very overwhelming and things like the ride they are on or waiting in line for breaks down and they need to communicate a change of plans, or they get stuck in a crowd/closed walkway at parade time and can't get back to where they need to be, etc.

Plastic key card, like you get at the hotel? That will NOT work inside the parks.
Thanks. I hadn't noticed this was in the DL section of the DIS.
